Zubeen Garg’s sudden death at the age of 52 has left his family and fans heartbroken. For the unversed, Zubeen passed away on September 19, 2025, after a tragic scuba diving accident in Singapore. He was well known for his iconic blockbuster song, Ya Ali. He was one of the most celebrated singers in India, who sang over 32,000 songs in many languages, including Assamese, Hindi and Bengali. He was the highest-paid singer in Assam. Over the years, the Ya Ali singer has earned a pretty good amount and has left behind a whopping net worth.

According to multiple reports, Zubeen’s net worth was approximately USD 8 million, equivalent to approximately Rs. 70 crore. He earned through music sales, live concerts and brand endorsements. According to Hafi, Zubeen’s estimated earnings for the last month were between USD 37,661 and USD 53,000, which is Rs. 33,18,000 and Rs. 46,75,000. His estimated earnings for last year were between USD 458,852 and USD 649,712, which is approximately Rs. 4,04,17,000 and Rs. 5,72,12,000.

Zubeen’s trip to Singapore was cut short due to a tragic accident. For the unversed, the Ya Ali singer went to Singapore for the North East Festival, where he succumbed to death after he faced difficulty breathing while scuba diving. According to the organisers, the singer was given CPR before being rushed to Singapore General Hospital. The statement can be read as:

"With profound grief, we share the heartbreaking news that our beloved icon, Zubeen Garg, passed away today at Singapore General Hospital around 2:30 PM. Zubeen had arrived in Singapore just the day before yesterday. He was scheduled to be with us at the festival tomorrow, meeting and interacting with people. Earlier today, our entire team was engaged in a business meeting with senior Singaporean industrialists and policymakers at the Shangri-La Hotel to facilitate investments in Northeast India."

The organisers shared that while they were engaged in the business meeting, they received a call from Zubeen’s manager, who informed them about the incident. They revealed that a few members of the local Assamese community took the singer on a yacht visit. The event manager said:

"During the meeting, we received a call from Zubeen’s manager informing us that he had met with an accident and had been rushed to Singapore General Hospital. We later learned that a few members of the local Assamese community had taken him on a yacht visit, of which we had no prior knowledge."

Zubeen was born Zubeen Borthakur on November 18, 1972, in Tura, Meghalaya, to lyricist, Mohini Mohan Borthakur and dancer, Ily Borthakur. At the age of 19, he released his first album, Anamika.
