Ya Ali singer, Zubeen Garg, passed away on September 19, 2025, while swimming in Singapore. Reportedly, the 52-year-old singer passed away, allegedly due to a tragic scuba diving accident. His Assamese fans have been suspecting foul play and have been wanting the arrest of his managers, Siddharth Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta. Now, Siddhartha has been summoned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for questioning and amid this he released his first statement on feeling helpless and numb.
After Zubeen's demise, Zubeen's long-time manager wrote an open letter, stating that Assam has always been and will always be his home. People gave him love, respect, and livelihood are now hurt and he shares their pain. He shared that silence can be misunderstood. Some people believe that, as he did not speak immediately, he did something wrong. Hence, he wrote the letter to tell everyone that he has nothing to hide and is not running away. Siddharth shared his desire for assurance of his safety and a fair opportunity to present the facts. He also revealed being hurt, numb in pain being shown as the culprit and said on Facebook:
"I will come to Guwahati and place my side before the SIT and before the people. The media quickly began projecting me as a culprit, and I started receiving death threats, hate messages, and abuse. Friends and family urged me not to come to Guwahati, and I had to stay back in Delhi. Losing him has left a hole in my heart that can never be filled. But what has shattered me even more is not being able to come with him, attend his rituals, and stand with the family. I am helpless and numb, as my whole world has changed."
Zubeen Garg's manager, Siddharth Sharma, addresses accusations of the singer's music catalogue and false claims of hiding his finances and neglecting him. He was with him before and after the incident, tried everything to get him help, and then arranged to bring him home to India. He claimed to be shocked and saddened by the rumours, abuse, and threats that have spread online and on television. Siddharth shared:
"Some have accused me of negligence that day; others claimed I was hiding money or building businesses in Zubeen da’s name. Some have even said that I will become the owner of Zubeen da’s copyrights. These allegations are entirely false. I have never misused his trust or his finances, and I am fully prepared to account for every rupee before the authorities and his family."
Siddharth, sharing the truth, also shared that most of Zubeen Da's 38,000 songs recorded by him are owned entirely by other music labels and production houses. He himself never received money from them, apart from a few thousand rupees as one-time singing fees. Most of these songs, including almost all of his hit songs, were recorded before Siddharth came in his life. Siddharth shared how Zubeen used to tell him of people misusing him and shared:
"How, even after his songs earned crores of rupees, he never received any royalty from producers or music labels of Assam. Anyone can verify this by checking with those producers and labels directly."
