Recently, on September 23, 2025, Zubeen Garg was cremated with state honours near Guwahati. Who is Shekhar Jyoti Goswami?

Shekhar Jyoti Goswami is an Indian musician and a close associate of Zubeen Garg. Hailing from Assam, he is known as a drummer, arranger, and producer, most notably as a long-time associate and bandmate of the late singer, Zubeen Garg. While primarily recognised as a drummer, Shekhar's social media presence lists additional roles, including sound engineer, music producer, arranger, and computer hardware engineer. Some of his musical works have been featured on music streaming platforms like Shazam and JioSaavn.

On a personal level, he is a loving husband to his wife, with whom he has recently celebrated his 11th anniversary. They are also parents to a little son. Besides making music, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami also enjoys himself when he takes little trips with his family, as evident from his Instagram posts. Shekhar Jyoti Goswami was arrested by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with his bandmate, Zubeen Garg's suspicious death. The reason was that Shekhar was present on the yacht in Singapore when Zubeen had a fatal scuba diving incident on September 19, 2025. He is not an official suspect yet; however, the authorities wanted to interrogate him in case he could provide any crucial information related to the case.

According to his account, Zubeen Garg was reportedly found floating face-down in the water for an extended period during his swim session. He claimed to have turned him over and observed 'white liquid coming out of his mouth and nose'. After that, he called for help, and then the singer was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Recently, Zubeen Garg's death certificate was issued by a hospital in Singapore, which listed his cause of death as drowning. A medical seizure is believed to have contributed to the fatal incident. A second autopsy was conducted in Guwahati, India, at the request of the public, and the Assam government ensured that no foul play was involved. The results of the second post-mortem also confirmed drowning as the reason for the singer's untimely demise.
