Engagements usually are followed by the wedding bells. Well, not for Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott. The couple has gone the unorthodox path and decided to live, love and laugh without signing the papers. However, fans are often intrigued about why the couple would choose to go down this path. Well, the duo opened up about the same and revealed why they are not in a rush to tie the knot.

Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott got engaged in 2023, but still have no plans of tying the knot anytime soon. The couple started dating in 2019, and Jonathan popped the question in 2023 during a vacation in Scotland. However, the Property Brothers star and the New Girl alum are not in a hurry to walk down the aisle. The couple addressed the same during an interview with PEOPLE and shared:

"We've just been having so much fun travelling with the kids and filming this show and stuff. So no, we have not actually made any plans yet."

However, that doesn't mean that Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott don't have a general vision of what their wedding would look like. According to Jonathan, they would want it to be meaningful to them. He added that they would want to keep it extremely intimate and be surrounded by their friends and family. Nonetheless, he doesn't feel any pressure to walk down the aisle.

In 2023, Jonathan Scott sat for an interview with E! News. He revealed that the good thing about meeting someone at his age was that neither of them was looking for something casual. He added that this played an important role in their not taking any pressure from anyone. Jonathan further shared that whenever they do get married, they won't let anyone dictate what it should look like. Zooey also shared his sentiments and in a separate interview stated:

"We don't know when we're getting married yet. We're just enjoying being engaged right now."

It was late October 2019, when Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott started dating, soon after meeting on Carpool Karaoke. The couple soon took their relationship to the next level and became Instagram official. Following their date at Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, Zooey and Jonathan took to social media to share glimpses into their frightening evening. Zooey also joined Jonathan as his plus one to his brother's wedding. 

During Thanksgiving 2019, Jonathan Scott officially professed his love for Zooey Deschanel online, dropping the 'L-word' in his Instagram post. He expressed his affection for Zooey and revealed how she brings joy to his world. The couple was soon spotted on dates, red carpets and vacations together. And the big surprise came in August 2023, when the pair announced their engagement to the world with a love-filled post on social media with the caption:

"Forever starts now!!!"
