Deepinder Goyal, known for staying in the limelight due to his line of work, has given the final blow to the nation. On January 21, 2026, Deepinder unapologetically announced that he would step down as Group CEO and Managing Director of Eternal. So, from February 1, 2026, the Blinkit founder, Albinder Singh Dhindsa, will take control, marking a major leadership shift. Let's know more about Albinder!

Albinder Dhindsa will be the new CEO of Eternal Ltd., the parent company of Zomato

After Deepinder Goyal resigned, Albinder Dhindsa was named group chief executive officer of Eternal Ltd., which is the parent company of Zomato and Blinkit. He will take the position after Deepinder steps down on February 1, 2026. For the unversed, currently, Albinder is the CEO of Blinkit. He will be the one giving his approval for operating decisions. For the unversed, Deepinder has been the co-founder and CEO of Zomato since 2008. However, he exited from the group, leaving many widely shocked. However, he is still part of Eternal's board as vice chairman. Also, it is worth noting that last year, Zomato changed its corporate name to Eternal.

Who is Albinder Singh Dhindsa?

Albinder Dhindsa is in his 40s and was born in Patiala, Punjab. He has pursued graduation from IIT Delhi in Mechanical Engineering. He started his journey as a transportation analyst at URS Corporation. Later, he worked as a senior associate at Cambridge Systematics and focused on logistics and supply chain systems. However, in 2010, Albinder shifted to the U.S. to pursue his studies. He completed his MBA from Columbia Business School. During this time, he worked as an associate at UBS Investment Bank. After Albinder completed his MBA, he came back to India and joined Zomato as head of international operations. He worked on scaling the company's global business.

Albinder Singh Dhindsa's dream of Grofers taking the shape of Blinkit

It was in 2013, when startups were the highlight, that Dhindsa decided to make his own company and co-founded Grofers with Saurabh Kumar. The company was started with the aim of being an online grocery and pharmacy service that would provide delivery at home. It experienced rapid growth and expansion but faced significant operational and financial challenges during its growth phase.

It was in 2021, when Grofers was rebranded as Blinkit, and in 2022, it was acquired by Zomato, as it wanted to bring the quick-commerce business under its umbrella to give competition to Swiggy. After this acquisition, Albinder worked as the chief executive officer of Blinkit.

Talking about Albinder Singh Dhindsa's personal life, he is married to Akriti Chopra. She was born in 1988. She is a well-known Indian entrepreneur and is recognised for her association with Zomato. She has been part of the food delivery platform since 2011 and worked as a Senior Manager of Finance and Operations at a time when the company was in its growing stage.
