Veteran actress, Zeenat Aman was a trendsetter in the industry back in her time, and she still manages to mesmerise people with her progressive thinking. Over the course of her career in the Hindi film industry, she has acted alongside some acclaimed actors, including Rajesh Khanna. She has shared the screen space with the late superstar in films like Aashiq Hoon Baharon Ka, Ajanabee, Chhailla Babu, Jaanwar, and more.
Recently, during an interview, the ever-confident Zeenat Aman recalled an incident early in her career when she felt a bit intimated by Rajesh Khanna. She revealed that she would mig up her lines properly so that she wouldn’t fumble in front of the late superstar. However, she never showed that on her face, and bravely performed in front of him. In her words:

“I remember when I had just started in the film industry, and Rajesh Khanna was the phenomenon. Oh my god, I mugged up all my lines so that I wouldn’t flub a single thing. I was totally intimidated by him, but did I show him? Not at all. I went to him, and I performed. So, when I went back to my makeup room, I was like, ‘Wow. I just gave a shot with a superstar.’ I think that’s the right attitude to have.”

Zeenat Aman is one of those celebrities in Tinseltown who isn’t afraid to call a spade a spade. She has repeatedly spoken about social issues, one of which was live-in relationships. In a long Instagram note, Zeenat Aman had emphasised that couples should live together before getting married. However, this did not go down well with a segment of conservative people.
After the backlash, Zeenat Aman briefly left the social media platform but returned with a more thought-provoking post, this time on the ‘culture of easy outrage’ online. On May 31, 2024, the veteran actress posted a picture of herself wearing a resplendent summery outfit in a pastel shade and revealed in her caption that she took a break as she was bored of her own face on the grid. Sharing how this alone time made her think about how society has changed over the decades, Zeenat Aman wrote:
“Well, hello there! Here I am, photographed through the window of @zanuski’s car yesterday. I took an unplanned social media break. Mostly because I got tired of seeing my own face on my grid! This time to myself really led me to ruminate on how different the world is today from when I started out. It’s quite unrecognisable from what I lived through in the 70s.”

Further, in her note, the veteran actress expressed her fascination with how the internet has changed society and also acknowledged its pros and cons. She emphasised that people can make a career with just their smartphones, but back in her day, only people with privileges could build a successful career. Zeenat Aman also pointed out that people nowadays make hurtful comments without even thinking twice and added that this indicates a ‘bored society’ that has forgotten the nuances of the world.
