Sussanne Khan's mother, Zarine Khan passed away at the age of 81. The report was first circulated by News18. For the unversed, Zarine Khan was a famous model of the 1960s. After she married Sanjay Khan, she shifted her career to interior design, and her daughter, Sussanne, followed in her mom's footsteps. Zarine Khan married Sanjay Khan in 1996, and they welcomed four kids: Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, Farah Ali Khan, and Zayed Khan. Zarine's demise has caused a spark of grief in the industry, and her industry acquaintances arrived at her funeral to pay their last respects. Among others, her ex-son-in-law, Hrithik, also marked his presence.

Hrithik Roshan and Zarine Khan shared a beautiful bond, even after the actor parted ways with Sussanne Khan. Zarine, in an interview, said that Hrithik is the father of her grandchildren and they are bonded for life. Hrithik, too, had been on warm terms with his ex-in-laws; thus, years after his divorce from Sussanne, he used to address Zarine as his 'mom'. Well, on November 7, 2025, the report of Zarine Khan's demise circulated, and several celebrities were seen attending her funeral, including Jaya Bachchan, Bobby Deol, and others. Hrithik also attended his ex-mother-in-law, Zarine Khan's, funeral, along with his ladylove, Saba Azad. Zayed Khan was seen performing the rituals, being emotional.

What caused Zarine Khan's demise?

While no minute details about Zarine Khan's death reason have been disclosed, earlier, News18 reported that she was suffering from age-related ailments. However, recently, a report from India Today has revealed that the former model and actress suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. To mention, the Khan family is yet to react to the same. For the unversed, Zarine was seen in movies like Tere Ghar Ke Saamne and Ek Phool Do Mali. Following this, she turned to interior design and also co-authored a cookbook, in which she credited her mother-in-law for her cooking skills.

Zarine Khan praised Hrithik Roshan

Even though Hrithik and Sussanne parted ways, they remained cordial with each other and their respective families. During an interview, Zarine was asked about her favourite daamad, Hrithik. According to FirstPost, she said she felt she was in the wrong profession, but praised the actor as a great human being, stating that he has a gentle heart and could have made a great spiritual leader. She doesn't hold any grudges against anyone. She said:

"I think he is in the wrong profession. His heart is so gentle. He is so human and forgiving. He would have made a great spiritual leader. He never holds a grudge, never gets angry. Only extreme injustice against someone can make him really angry. Otherwise he just lets things go, even if someone wrongs him, or does something that upsets him."

Zarine Khan got married to Sanjay Khan in 1996. While some reports claimed the duo met at a bus stop, talking to Magztar, Zarine said she met him when she was 14. Zarine said she was Sanjay's neighbour, and that she met her husband through her mother-in-law. Zarine and Sanjay had been together through ups and downs. Reportedly, Sanjay Khan cheated on her with Zeenat Aman when she was pregnant with Zayed Khan. Well, the duo had always been together.
