Zarine Khan, the beloved Bollywood actress, passed away from natural causes on November 7, 2025, at the age of 81. She was suffering from prolonged age-related ailments, and her cause of death was reported to be a heart attack. Zarine was known as a multifaceted individual with talents in acting, interior design, and television hosting. In her personal life, she was a loving wife and a caring mother. Her marriage to Sanjay Khan is arguably the most talked-about aspect of her life. Recently, her funeral was held in accordance with Hindu customs, leaving fans confused. Zarine's daughter, Farah Khan Ali, commented on the issue.
Jewellery designer, Farah Khan Ali, has paid an emotional tribute to Zarine Khan after she succumbed to cardiac arrest. Farah is the daughter of Zarine Khan and Sanjay Khan, and the sister of Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, and Zayed Khan. As the buzz around Zarine Khan's Hindu cremation continues, Farah's statement shut down the trolls. For context, Zarine Khan was born Zarine Katrak, and she maintained her Parsi heritage and did not convert to Islam after marrying Sanjay Khan. As per Zarine's wishes, her final rites were performed according to Hindu rituals. Farah praised the decision, saying her mother valued 'Humanity' above all religious labels. Farah wrote:
"Born a Parsi, Married as a Muslim and cremated according to Hindu rites. She epitomised Humanity and is someone whose legacy we hope to live."

Farah Khan Ali's heartfelt Instagram post won fans' hearts as it highlighted her mother, Zarine's, lesser-known family life. Farah described her mother as a kind-hearted and loving person who was the bond that bound their family together. Notably, Zarine single-handedly saved her marriage when her husband, Sanjay, cheated on her with Zeenat Aman. At that time, Zarine was pregnant with their son, Zayed. Being a powerful woman, Zarine did not give up on Sanjay and waited patiently for him to return to her, while also caring for their children. Hinting at this, Farah highlighted her mother's philosophy of life, 'forgive and forget'. She stated:
"My mother Zarine Khan was a very special woman. Her philosophy of life was to 'Forgive and Forget' She was kind hearted, loved by all her friends and family and cared deeply for one and all. She was the bond that kept our family together."

The affair between actors, Sanjay Khan and Zeenat Aman was a brief, tumultuous, and highly publicised episode in the late 1970s that involved a short-lived marriage and an alleged incident of physical abuse. Sanjay Khan and Zeenat Aman met and fell in love on the sets of the film, Abdullah, around 1980. At the time, Sanjay Khan was already married to his first wife, Zarine Khan, and she was expecting their son, Zayed Khan. Zeenat and Sanjay married in a private ceremony with only two witnesses in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, on December 30, 1978. Notably, Sanjay did not divorce Zarine, and she thought he leveraged his Muslim faith to maintain both marriages.

Sanjay and Zeenat's marriage was annulled less than a year later, on November 24, 1979. Their relationship was reportedly fraught with emotional and physical turmoil. Zeenat later revealed in interviews and an Instagram post that she suffered physical abuse, which included an incident that left permanent damage to her right eye. The most infamous incident occurred at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, where a heated argument between the couple escalated into a public assault, with witnesses confirming Sanjay's violence. Zeenat required medical attention for her injuries, but did not file a police case at the time due to her love for him.
