Zarine Khan Spoke On Sanjay-Zeenat Affair, 'He Thought He'd Manage Us Both.. Being A Muslim'

Sussanne Khan's mother, Zarine Khan passed away at the age of 81. Zarine Khan was suffering from age-related ailments, and she also reportedly had a sudden cardiac arrest, which claimed her life, as reported. Glimpses from her funeral made rounds on social media, and her kids were seen breaking down in tears. Zayed Khan performed the rituals to bid farewell to her mom, and Hindu traditions were followed because Zarine was a Hindu. In 1996, Zarine, a Zoroastrian, married Sanjay Khan. In an interview, Zarine, who was also a famous model of the 1960s, talked about how her love story with Sanjay began, as well as a heartbreaking phase when her husband was linked to another famous actress, Zeenat Aman.

In an interview with iDiva, Zarine Khan bared her heart out when she shared details about her relationship with Sanjay Khan. She revealed that they had been together since she was in school, adding that they were definitely 'soulmates'. Zarine, the founder of Fizaa (a multi-designer store), revealed that her husband liked to narrate their love story with so much passion in the following years that it made her feel good. Mentioning that she was called 'queen' by Sanjay Khan, Zarine said:

"My husband calls me his queen. He continues to narrate our love story with so much passion that it embarrasses me! We’ve been together since I was in school. Ours is a strong connection. That’s why we could withstand a lot of upheavals. We are soul mates."

In the same interview, Zarine Khan shared that when she was just 14, four dashing Pathans, including Sanjay Khan and others, moved into their neighbourhood, and all of them were gunning for her, who was back then a modern Parsi. Well, it was Sanjay who caught Zarine's eye, because he never teased her in any way. Well, once Zarine was out with her friend, and it was Sanjay, who, with a stick, wrote 'Hi' on the sand of the beach. Zarine's friend reciprocated with a 'Hi'. Well, when the duo was left alone, Sanjay asked Zarine out. She also described Sanjay as a possessive beau, for whom, she gave up her modelling career. She said:

"Persis Khambatta (supermodel/fashionista) even wanted to take me to London on a two-year contract. But my boyfriend was so possessive, he said ‘Either you go to London or stay with me’. I chose to be with him and I’m glad. Today, I have a family."

Zarine Khan and Sanjay Khan's relationship went through several ups and downs, and when she was pregnant with Zayed, his affair with Zeenat Aman hit the headlines. Well, Zarine was aware of it, and talking about the same to iDiva, she said that she had no idea about what happened to her husband back then. Talking more about the same, Zarine added that she went through a whole lot of emotional turmoil back then, but she had her inner strength to fight it, as she would wear six-inch heels during her 9 months of pregnancy. She also added that this was a mad wind that sort of blew off.

Zarine, in the same interview, added that she gave an ultimatum to Sanjay, telling him that she would walk away. She mentioned that Sanjay thought that he could manage both being a Muslim, which she couldn't accept. Stating that her husband continued to reassure her during every moment of this phase, Zarine Khan said:

"I threw a tantrum and gave him an ultimatum that I’d walk out. That’s when things returned to normalcy. Maybe, it was just ‘a mad wind’ that blew over. But throughout, Abbas kept reassuring me, ‘I love you’. He thought being a Muslim; he’d be able to manage us both. But I was a Zoroastrian and couldn’t accept that.”
