Zakir Khan is one of the most loved stand-up comedians. He is best-known for his relatable sets, unmatched humour and hilarious expressions. However, he recently left his fans heartbroken when he announced a break from stand-up, due to health reasons. Well, Zakir Khan has finally opened up about his health issues and the long break from comedy.
Recently, Zakir Khan sat down for a candid conversation with Gulf News, during which he opened up about his deteriorating health. He revealed that it is mostly genetic illness that runs in his family. He further also added that he himself is also responsible for his health as he never took proper rest and sleep because of his stand-up shows. He was quoted as saying:
"I need to take care of my health. There are certain genetic illnesses in my family that tend to surface after a particular age. On top of that, I’ve damaged my body myself, sleeping for just two hours and then going on to meet thousands of people. Because the moment you land in a city, you immediately start meeting people."

Zakir Khan also mentioned that during the early days of his career, he thought that he would manage his health amid his stand-up shows. However, during the U.S. tour of Papa Yaar, Zakir Khan realised that he couldn’t manage his career and health at the same time. He further made it clear that currently, his priority is his health. In his words:
"When you keep your foot on the accelerator for ten straight years, the body is bound to take a hit. So I initially thought I’d manage health alongside work. But last year, when we were in the US, I realised that it wouldn’t be possible to do both together. That’s when I made this decision."

For those who do not know, a few months ago, Zakir Khan took to his Instagram handle to announce that he is taking a break from stand-up comedy, due to health. However, he had mentioned that the break would be of one to two years. But, during one of his recent live shows in Hyderabad, he revealed that he hasn’t decided when he will return. He had also stated that he would be taking a break of four to five years. He had shared:
"I’m going on a long, long break. Probably till 2028–29, or even 2030. It will be a break of three, four, or five years to take care of my health and to sort out a few other things. So everyone present here right now is very close to my heart. Your presence means more to me than you can imagine, and I will always be grateful to all of you. Thank you so much."

Zakir Khan was born on August 20, 1987, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He is grandson of Ustad Moinuddin Khan. At an early age, Zakir discovered his passion for classical music; however; fate had some different plans for him. Eventually, Zakir landed into stand-up comedy.
