Zaira Wasim was the brightest Hindi film female star who was introduced by Aamir Khan back in 2016. The actress bowled all her fans with her fine performance in Dangal. The former heroine has now gotten married, and her fans have been on cloud nine since the news. However, did you know Zaira Wasim quit Bollywood after doing just three movies and set a Bollywood record that no one could beat to date?
Zaira was just three films old in Bollywood when she left Bollywood, and no one to date has broken Zaira's record of the film, Secret Superstar. For the unversed, the film was directed by Advait Chandan, and at the box office, it earned Rs. 902.92 crore during its run. It became the seventh highest-grossing Hindi movie since it was ever made. The next option, which was closest, was Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2, the ninth highest-grossing movie with a female star.
However, Zaira's Secret Superstar at the gross lifetime worldwide collection had minted Rs. 902.92 crore, which then made it the seventh highest grossing Hindi movie in the History of Bollywood. Zaira's box office record, as per a latest report by Koimoi, has remained untouched for 2922 days. Zaira has been sitting on the throne of the highest-grossing Hindi movie, led by a female superstar, and no one has yet dared to touch it.
Zaira announced to the world on October 18, 2025, that she was getting married to the love of her life via a nikaah ceremony. She took to her Instagram handle to share two beautiful snaps: one of her reading the Nikaah Nama, and the other showing her and her husband moon gazing. With henna-clad hands, Zaira said, 'Qubool hai'. Fans were very happy to see her make the most important decision of her life when her career was at its peak. It was in June 2019 when the actress announced to the world of her decision to quit movies, citing religious beliefs, and penned a long post:
"I want to confess that I am not truly happy with this identity, that is, my line of work. For a very long time now, it has felt like I have struggled to become someone else. While I acknowledge with humility all the love people shower me with, I cannot emphasise enough how the praise that comes my way isn’t gratifying at all for me and how big of a test it is for me and how dangerous it is for my Iman.”
A look into Zaira's early life, it was on October 23, 2000, when the former actress was born in Srinagar's Downtown area, located in Jammu and Kashmir. Her parents are Zahid and Zarqa Wasim. Zaira's dad worked as an executive manager at J&K Bank, and it was in 2024 that he passed away. Zaira's mom has been a teacher, and her upbringing has been in a closed Kashmiri Muslim family. Zaira became famous with Secret Superstar and Dangal, where she played the role of a young 'Geeta Phogat'.
