Sonakshi Sinha tied the knot to her longtime boyfriend, Zaheer Iqbal, on June 23, 2024, in a registered marriage ceremony at her home. Following their marriage, the couple hosted a reception party for their friends and family in Bastian, Mumbai. After tying the knot, Sonakshi and Zaheer enjoyed two honeymoons in Singapore and the Philippines. Now, Zaheer revealed how his wedding plans were different from that of Sonakshi's.
In an interview with Galatta India, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal were asked how they had planned their wedding and if they wanted to get married in front of their family only. Sonakshi admitted that it had always been her plan. However, Zaheer interrupted and mentioned that he wanted to elope with Sonakshi. In his words:

"I wanted to elope....Just bounce to the country and go somewhere, get married, and come back but I got to know that wedding is not valid in India."

Sonakshi also mentioned that she had always wanted a small wedding and that Zaheer was okay with his relatives and friends attending the event. The actress shared that they invited all the people who had been part of their lives to their wedding and had one big party at Bastian. Sonakshi added:
''Zaheer aur Sona ki shaadi hai to ek party toh banti hai."
In the same interview, Sonakshi and Zaheer were asked who proposed to whom for marriage. To this, the Dabangg diva said that when they started dating each other, she proposed to Zaheer and told him that she was going to marry him only, whether he liked it or not. In her words:
“When we started dating, I was the first one who told him I love you. I was the first one who told him I’m going to marry only you whether you like it or not.”

Sonakshi Sinha added that she and Zaheer took some time to get to know each other and spent more time together. Later, their relationship grew deeper, and after a point in time, Iqbal also agreed to get married to Sonakshi. Talking about his delay in saying 'yes' to the wedding, Zaheer said:
“I was enjoying this relationship so much. When you grow up, a lot of people fill your head saying, shaadi ke baad sab badal jaata hai, so I was like badalne waala hai to isko aur thora enjoy kar lete hain.”
