Zahan Kapoor Reveals He Didn't Know About His Cousin, Ranbir Kapoor Before His Bollywood Debut

Zahan Kapoor is being showered with love and appreciation for his performances. The actor has only appeared in two projects on-screen so far. However, it was enough for the audience to be in awe of the actor. Zahan made his debut with Hansal Mehta's Faraz and was later seen in Vikramaditya Motwane's series Black Warrant. Recently, the actor opened up about his childhood and revealed about his relationship with his superstar cousins, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ranbir Kapoor.

Zahan Kapoor didn't know who Ranbir Kapoor was until his Bollywood debut

Recently, Zahan Kapoor sat for a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, where he shared a humorous yet embarrassing anecdote from his childhood. He revealed that he was unaware of his cousin, Ranbir Kapoor's existence until his Bollywood debut. He added that he knew who Rishi Kapoor was, but since the families remained separated, he didn't know who Ranbir was. He stated:

"I did not really have an idea about Ranbir Kapoor before he was actually launched. Of course, I knew Chintu uncle. But, we were so separate. I was living in my world as a young kid. It was around the time when he made his splash with Saawariya in 2007." 

Zahan further shared that he was fascinated by his cousin Ranbir's performance in the film, Rockstar. He added that he watched the film twice on the same day back in his school days. He revealed even though he was not as close with Ranbir at the time to call him and show his appreciation, things have significantly improved since then.

In the same conversation, Zahan Kapoor was asked about his bond with cousins Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Responding to the interviewer, the young actor admitted that his connection with his superstar cousins has grown stronger recently. He explained that he was still a kid when Kareena and Ranbir entered the entertainment industry, which changed the dynamics of their relationship. He was quoted saying:

"While growing up, we were slightly more distant. My Dadaji also made a conscious decision to separate himself, he valued his privacy. As a nuclear family, we value our privacy."

In the same conversation, Zahan Kapoor revealed that his grandfather, Shashi Kapoor, made sure that their nuclear family maintained a sense of privacy. The actor added that even though there were family gatherings on several special and random occasions, his interaction with Kareena and Ranbir was limited. Zahan further revealed that their relationship as adults has strengthened. However, there is a sense of natural separation as Kareena and Ranbir are his second cousins. He stated:

"I have developed a relationship with them now more as a young adult because they are my second cousins. So, there is a separation.  They are first cousins to each other so their relationship with each other is still closer. But, I have childhood memories with them. The structure of the family is also just so big."
