One of the superstars of her generation, Sridevi was reportedly found dead in a bathtub, after accidental drowning, on February 24, 2018, by her husband, Boney Kapoor. It was when the actress went to attend nephew, Mohit Marwah's wedding in Dubai, she died following a cardiac arrest. However, Sridevi's untimely demise created a huge uproar in the media, and her fans, alongside her family, were left completely devasted. So much so that people are still in complete disbelief that the actress suddenly left the mortal planes at the mere age of 54.
Recently, a Bhubaneshwar-based YouTuber named Deepti R Pinniti claimed that the Indian and UAE governments have ‘covered-up’ facts over Sridevi’s demise. Deepti, who identifies herself as a self-styled investigator, posted videos on her YouTube channel and made many allegations based on forged documents, as revealed by the CBI. Thus, a Mumbai-based lawyer, Chandni Shah, filed a complaint against her and her lawyer, Bharath Suresh Kamath. The Mumbai-based lawyer pointed out that in Deepti's videos and live sessions, the YouTuber deceptively produced records from the UAE and Indian governments, which appeared to be forged. Thus, based on the complaint, CBI raided Deepti's house in December 2023 and seized her phones and laptops. Chandni Shah alleged in her complaint:

“The suspect Deepti Rani Pinniti has time and again maligned the image of the present government by bizarrely accusing the government as the sponsor of the death of Sridevi...”

In a YouTube video, Deepti also claimed that her team went to Dubai to source the "original documents" from the hospital and mentioned that she had placed these documents in the court. Deepti said in the video, "Many people ask me why I share these documents on social media and don't go to the court. I have already approached a court." However, as per CBI, the letters from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and many other documents were forged entirely. However, reacting to the chargesheet against her, Deepti in a conversation with the PTI, said:
"When the letters in question are incriminating against the very authorities under whom the CBI comes, CBI becomes a party of conflict to be the entity to collect evidence."
The unexpected demise of legendary actress, Sridevi in the year 2018 had been one of the most shocking experiences in the lives of her husband, Boney Kapoor and their daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. Thus, in Janhvi's first interview with Vogue, after the loss of her mother, she recalled her last words with her mom, Sridevi. The Dhadak actress recollected that, at the time, Sridevi was busy packing for her fateful trip to Dubai. But even after that, the doting mommy took some time out for her daughter, and they spoke for the one last time. Afterwards, Janhvi also shared how her family coped up with the tragedy and revealed:
“The day before she left for the wedding, I had to shoot, but I couldn’t sleep, so I was like, I need you to come and put me to sleep. But she was packing, so by the time she came to me I was half asleep. But I could feel her patting my head. The family has come together. It’s made us feel safe and secure. Even for papa, it’s a source of comfort. It has definitely tied us together. We’ve lost mum, and I don’t think that’s a loss any of us will ever get over.”

Talking about the tragic episode of her mother, Sridevi’s death in her life, Jahvi although mentioned that it was indeed a tough time, but also talked about a sense of relief. Elaborating more on it, she highlighted that at that time, she had started to treat this tragedy of her life as a befitting punishment for all the privileges that she had gained in her life. She also felt that the incident made a justified balance against all the good things that have happened in her life.
