'Yehi Hai Zindagi' Veteran Actor, Rakesh Pandey Passed Away At The Age Of 77 Due To Cardiac Arrest

Veteran actor, Rakesh Pandey passed away at the age of 77
Veteran actor, Rakesh Pandey made his mark in both Hindi and Bhojpuri cinema. He was a phenomenal actor, a respected member of the film fraternity and dear to his fans. The actor passed away at only 77 on the morning of March 21, 2025. According to reports, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Arogyanidhi Hospital in Juhu. He took his last breath at 8:50 in the morning. The doctors cited the reason for his death as cardiac arrest, and his last rites were performed at the Shastri Nagar crematorium. His family and close acquaintances gathered to bid him adieu and pay their respects.
Rakesh Panday's journey from theatre to the silver screen
Talking about Rakesh Pandey's journey in Indian cinema. He made his debut in Bollywood with Basu Chatterjee's 1969 classic film, Sara Akash. The film not only marked his presence as a promising actor in the film fraternity but also earned him the President's Award. Rakesh was trained at the prestigious Indian Film and Television Institute (FTII) Pune and later associated with the Bhartendu Academy of Dramatic Arts. His love for theatre was evident in his projects as he was deeply rooted in the theatre before transitioning to films. Rakesh also shared a close link with IPTA (Indian People's Theatre Association) in his early years, which honed his craft and brought a natural realism to his performances.

Rakesh Panday's career was one to remember. Not only did he build a diverse filmography, but he also made sure to maintain a balance between mainstream and regional cinema. Some of his most memorable roles in Hindi cinema were in Mera Rakshak, Yehi Hai Zindagi, Woh Main Nahin, Do Raha, and Eeshwar. Rakesh further showed his talent in regional cinema with Bhojpuri films like Balam Pardesiya and Bhaiya Dooj. Film enthusiasts will always remember the depth and authenticity he brought to his characters.
He also featured in significant Bollywood projects in later years, including the 2002 Shah Rukh Khan starrer film, Devdas, Aamir Khan's 2001 hit, Dil Chahta Hai, Hrithik Roshan's Lakshya (2004), and the fan favourite, Black. However, Rakesh's work was not bound to the big screen alone. He gave the best version of himself in every single project he took on, irrespective of the budget or scale. Rakesh Panday made an active presence on television with popular serials like Chotti Bahu, Dehleez, and the celebrated series, Bharat Ek Khoj. He later took a break from acting for two decades before marking his strong comeback in Kapil Sharma's 2017 film, Firangi. The film once again proved his passion for the art of acting and performance. In recent years, he was seen in films like Hurdang and the web series, The Lawyers Show.
