Yami Gautam is a well-known actress in Bollywood who is admired for her simplicity, versatile roles and honest attitude. Despite coming from a simple background, she rose to popularity in the industry with her roles in films like Article 370, A Thursday, Kaabil, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga and more. The actress tied the knot with filmmaker, Aditya, and the couple are parents to a son, Vedavid. However, Yami prefers to keep her personal life and son away from media attention. After a long while, in a recent interview, Yami Gautam opened up about her motherhood journey and revealed whether she intends to introduce her son to the media or not.
Yami Gautam has previously shared a little glimpse of her son in her social media pictures but never showed her face or made him meet the paps. So, in a recent interview with News 18 Showsha, the actress was asked if she plans to introduce him to the media and if she has decided to keep him out of the public eye. In her response, Yami shared that the media won't see him and that it is a personal decision made unanimously by her and her husband, Aditya Dhar. In her words:
"You won't see him. I mean, that's a very personal choice which Aditya and I have taken."
Sharing the reason behind the decision for their son, Vedavid, the OMG 2 actress, shared that childhood is an important aspect of a person's life, and they believe that their son deserves to get a childhood like any other kid. For the unversed, the kids of other stars in the media are often chased by paparazzi for their photos and sometimes even judged by the trolls. She continued by saying that they believe that media attention can impact his mind and that they want him to enjoy his life. In her words:
"I think a child deserves a childhood which every other child needs to have. It has a psychological impact, and we want him to just enjoy this life, to enjoy this blessing."
In the same conversation, Yami Gautam opened up about how her life changed after embracing motherhood. She explained that embracing parenthood brings changes both for a mother and a father. However, the whole life of a mother changes. The actress mentioned that it's a new journey, and one is often unprepared for those changes. Yami added that a woman is extremely happy and vulnerable and has to deal with it all alone. In her words:
"You're nervous, there's so many things, there's so many factors and at the end of the day, just those big eyes staring at you and just wanting love, and that's it! I think, can just be there and sitting there for hours and do nothing if it was really up to me!"
Yami Gautam worked in Aditya Dhar's directorial, Uri: The Surgical Strike. In a later interview with Hindustan Times, she revealed that during the film promotion, they began talking and developed a friendship. After dating him away from media attention. Yami tied the knot with Aditya on June 4, 2021, in a simple ceremony held in her native state, Himachal Pradesh, surrounded by close family members. Yami surprised her fans by sharing her wedding pictures, and the couple welcomed their son, Vedavid, on May 10, 2024.
