While the novel remained a classic one through centuries, the visual adaptation has now sparked widespread gossip, given that, while in literature the novel unfolded the dark and obsessive love story, on screen, which could be witnessed through the trailer, the movie became somewhat of a tragic love story. Margot Robbie, who is the lead and one of the producers of the 2026 version of Wuthering Heights, reportedly turned down Netflix's huge offer of USD 150 million, which reached out to them for the release of the movie on their platform. If a report by Variety is to be believed, Margot Robbie, rather than choosing the OTT giant, which, in recent years, outshone every other big platform, opted for a more traditional way, thereby giving the movie to Warner Bros, reportedly in exchange for USD 80 million, and theatrical release with a full-fledged campaign plan.

How much were Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi and other actors paid for Wuthering Heights?

Talking about the paychecks that the leads and the supporting stars got for the movie, Wuthering Heights, it was not officially disclosed. As per a report by Showbiz Galore, Margot Robbie, who is the lead and producer, got a salary of USD 12 million for her contribution to the film, while Jacob Elordi reportedly was paid USD 1 million.

Hong Chau, who will play 'Nelly Dean' has reportedly been paid USD 500,000 while Owen Cooper, who will be seen as 'Young Heathcliff', was reportedly paid USD 700,000. Among others, the cast features Charlotte Mellington as 'young Catherine', who reportedly was paid the same amount as Owen Cooper. Shazad Latif as 'Edgar Linton', Alison Oliver as 'Isabella Linton' and Shazad Latif as 'Edgar Linton' were reportedly paid USD 200,000 per actor for the movie.
