Wing Commander, Namansh Syal lost his life in the Tejas Fighter jet crash, which took place on November 21, 2025, at the Dubai Air Show. What was meant to be a proud showcase of India's most indigenous combat aircraft turned tragic when the 34-year-old pilot lost control during a manoeuvre and went straight down. Wing Commander Namansh died on the spot, and now his brother-in-law, Ramesh Kumar, revealed that the late IAF officer was due for a promotion.

Wing Commander, Namansh Syal lost his life during a high-speed demonstration of the Tejas Fighter Jet at the Dubai Air Show. Initial investigation reports claimed that the aircraft did not recover from the manoeuvre that led to the terrible crash. The Indian Air Force has asked for an investigation into the exact cause, but amid that, Namansh's brother-in-law, Ramesh Kumar, has revealed that the officer was due for promotion. In a state of heartbreak, Ramesh revealed that he was soon to be promoted to the rank of Squadron Leader. In his words:

“He was my brother-in-law… He was supposed to get a promotion. At just 34, he had already reached the rank of Squadron Leader. He was a very humble person. The entire village is devastated."

Wing Commander, Namansh Syal, who hailed from Patialakad village located in Himachal Pradesh's Nagrota Bagwan, has led all mourning. The Tejas fighter jet the pilot was flying went down during a flight demonstration at the elite event in the afternoon local time. The accident showcased an aerobatic sequence, and eyewitnesses saw the aircraft dive steeply and engulfed in a ball of fire. The Indian Air Force (IAF) had confirmed the demise of the officer, which took place at 3.40 p.m. IST when thousands had come to see the airfield.

Wing Commander, Namansh Syal's village has been mourning his loss

Wing Commander, Namansh Syal has left behind his wife, who is also an officer with the Indian Air Force, and a six-year-old daughter. According to a News 18 report, Namansh was known to be a quiet and also respectful person who always had the dream of wearing the decorated Indian Air Force uniform and serving the country. Back at his home in Kangra, hundreds of villagers have come, crying, praying, and in disbelief at Namansh's demise.

Wing Commander, Namansh Syal's family is not in a position to speak and has been shocked to know of the demise of a man who was devoted to serving the nation. Namansh belonged from Nagrota Bagwan and had gone to the Sainik School located in Hamirpur's district of Sujanpur Tira. Namansh's father, Jagan Nath, was a retired Army Officer who was then the principal back in the Himachal Pradesh Education Department. Namansh's parents were in Hyderabad when the untimely demise of their son took place.
