Will Stray Kids' JYP Ent Follow BTS' HYBE And G-Dragon's Galaxy Corp And Enter India? Find Out

JYP Entertainment is one of the leading entertainment companies in South Korea. In fact, it is part of the Big Three, that is, the top three entertainment companies in the country, which also includes YG Entertainment and SM Entertainment. Founded by Park Jin-young, popularly known as J.Y. Park or JYP, in 1997, the K-pop agency is behind major global artists like Stray Kids and Twice. Now, according to industry insiders, the company might be preparing to enter the Indian market. This news comes after G-Dragon's agency, Galaxy Corp, was also rumoured to be eyeing India for its expansion.

Will JYP Entertainment become the second K-pop agency to open its branch in India?

According to a report by The Korea Herald, JYP Entertainment is currently looking to enter the 1.4 billion market in India next. However, it's not the first K-pop company to open its branch in the country. Previously, HYBE, another leading South Korean entertainment company, home to major Grammy-nominated acts like BTS, SEVENTEEN, ENHYPHEN, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, among other famous acts, had opened its fifth overseas branch in Mumbai on September 23, 2025.

Following HYBE's entry into the Indian market, G-Dragon's agency, Galaxy Corp, is reportedly also exploring an entry into India. However, the company has not issued an official statement regarding this. If JYP Entertainment confirms its subsidiary in India, it would become the second major K-pop label to tap into India's rapidly growing music market.

What are JYP Entertainment's plans regarding reportedly entering the Indian market?

Although The Korea Herald reported that JYP Entertainment is currently preparing for its India push, most details remain under wraps. The industry insider who talked to the publication revealed that the agency is targeting the local music market. He was quoted as saying:

“JYP Entertainment is preparing to open its office in India to target the local music market. The exact location or timeline has not been decided, but the timing seems right as K-pop’s popularity continues to rise among younger generations in India.”

However, JYP Entertainment has revealed that it was not aware of the matter and refused to elaborate further when approached by the publication for a statement. According to the industry source, the K-pop label's move would be part of a long-term strategy to build regional hubs across Asia. The company currently operates overseas branches in places like the United States, Japan, and China. If they were to open in India, it would become the agency's fourth international launch.

According to local culture critic, Reeti Roy, many long-term opportunities exist in India's entertainment industry. If K-pop agencies like JYP Entertainment can successfully navigate the structural challenges — particularly those evident in Bollywood — they can gain a competitive edge in the market. Furthermore, it would also open the door to many collaborations between Indian musicians and global K-pop producers. The possibilities are endless, as we have also previously seen Stray Kids, a popular group under the label, drawing inspiration from Indian music, particularly Bollywood, for one of its recent releases, Ceremony, which topped music charts.
