Why Is Sherrone Moore Detained Amid Firing From Michigan Head Coach Post And Paige Shiver Buzz?

Sherrone Moore was removed from his position as Michigan Wolverines head coach, on December 10, 2025. The college football team claimed that Sherrone's "inappropriate relationship" with a subordinate was the reason for their sudden termination of his contract. The fans are abuzz with speculations about whether the reason was believable and, if so, who was the mystery woman with whom Sherrone Moore allegedly cheated on his wife of ten years, Kelli Moore. Hours after his firing from the post, Sherrone was reportedly arrested, sparking a frenzy among fans curious about the details of his detention. Here's everything we know about it so far.

When and why was Sherrone Moore arrested?

Sherrone Moore was reportedly detained just hours after his removal from the head coach position of the Michigan Wolverines. He was arrested and booked into the Washtenaw County Jail on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m. ET. The Pittsfield Township Police Department mentioned they were investigating an "alleged assault" at 4:10 p.m. ET, which was reported that afternoon in the 3000 block of Ann Arbor-Saline Road. The police further stated that the incident "does not appear to be random" and that there is "no ongoing threat to the community." The police statement read:

"The suspect was lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail pending review of charges by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor. At this time, the investigation is ongoing. Given the nature of the allegations, the need to maintain the integrity of the investigation, and its current status at this time, we are prohibited from releasing additional details."

The police officials refused to reveal any further details about the Michigan arrest due to the confidentiality requirements of an ongoing investigation. Reports from ESPN and other media houses indicate that the incident involved an alleged attack on a woman and that Sherrone Moore may be a suspect in the case. The ex-Michigan Wolverines head coach was initially detained by police in Saline, Michigan, and then turned over to the Pittsfield Township Police Department for an investigation into potential charges. However, the police haven't specified whether the charges were criminal. Many speculated that Sherrone Moore's detention was due to his alleged extramarital affair with a Michigan Wolverines' staff member, Paige Shiver.

University of Michigan's statement regarding Sherrone Moore's firing due to his alleged infidelity

The University of Michigan fired Sherrone Moore after an internal investigation found "credible evidence that he was involved in an "inappropriate relationship with a staff member" of the Michigan Wolverines football team. The university cited this conduct as a "clear violation of University policy." Michigan Athletic Director, Warde Manuel released a statement announcing Sherrone's contract termination, effective immediately. Sherrone's firing from the position was for "cause," which means the University of Michigan is not legally obligated to pay the nearly USD 12.3 million remaining amount of his five-year contract. The statement could be read as:

"U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately. Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behaviour."

The official notice from Warde Manuel did not reveal the identity of the staff member; however, the internet was abuzz with speculation that the woman was Paige Shiver, the executive assistant to the former head football coach, Sherrone Moore. Paige joined the University of Michigan program in November 2021 as the on-campus Recruiting & Football Operations Coordinator. She was promoted to executive assistant to the head coach in February 2024, shortly after Sherrone took the position. Adding to the buzz was Paige's public payroll data on umsalary.info, which showed her salary remained flat for two years at USD 58,025, then jumped sharply to USD 90,000 (an increase of 55.11%) in the 2024–25 fiscal year.
