Why Did Ram Charan Arrive Barefoot At Vijay Deverkonda And Rashmika Mandanna's Wedding Reception?

Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda’s wedding reception in Hyderabad on March 5, 2026, grabbed a lot of limelight. The event was star-studded, graced by many leading names from the South Indian film industry. However, it was Ram Charan who grabbed the whole attention for gracing the venue barefoot.

Why did Ram Charan arrive barefoot and in an all-black look for Rashmika and Vijay’s wedding reception?

Amid the long list of celebrities, Ram Charan graced the venue with his wife, Upasana Kamineni, who recently delivered twins. However, as soon as people noticed Ram’s barefoot, a lot of chatter began on social media. However, the real reason behind Ram’s barefeet is that the actor is currently fasting for his pilgrimage to the Sabarimala temple in Kerala.

An ardent devotee of Lord Ayyappa, Ram is observing a fast before his visit to the shrine. For the unversed, for the pilgrimage to the temple of Lord Ayyappa, a devotee must observe a fast for 30-41 days. During the fasting period, the devotee is supposed to wear black or saffron attire and keep their diet strictly vegetarian. The devotee also vows to walk barefoot as a mark of humility and follow a daily routine of prayer. This is one of the main reasons Ram ditched the flashy clothes at Vijay and Rashmika’s reception.

Ram Charan once headed to the Oscars barefoot

Ram Charan is an ardent believer of Lord Ayyappa and has often been spotted at events barefoot. Once in 2022, the actor took a ‘mannat’ for his sick dog and fasted for 41 days and visited the temple. Not just this, Ram was also spotted barefoot at the Hyderabad airport in 2023 as he headed to attend the Oscars. The actor kept a fast at that time since his film, RRR was nominated for the Oscars.

Ram Charan became a father to twins

Ram Charan and his wife, Upasana Konidela, welcomed their twins, a baby boy and a baby girl, on January 31, 2026. The couple had previously welcomed a daughter, Klin Kaara, in 2023. On February 13, 2026, Chiranjeevi took to social media and shared a photo from the namkaarn ceremony of Ram Charan and Upasana Konidela's twins. Sharing the photo, Chiranjeevi revealed that the couple decided to name their baby boy Shiva Ram Konidela and their baby girl Anveera Devi Konidela.

Sharing the reason for choosing the name Shiva Ram for the baby boy, Chiranjeevi added that the name is a profound confluence of two eternal ideals, where 'Shiva' is inspired by Shiva Shankara Vara Prasad, reflecting inner strength, spiritual depth and stillness and 'Ram' from Ram Charan embodies righteousness, compassion and moral courage. An excerpt from Chiranjeevi's post about the same could be read as:

"Shiva' is inspired by Shiva Shankara Vara Prasad, reflecting inner strength, spiritual depth and stillness. 'Ram' from Ram Charan embodies righteousness, compassion and moral courage. Together, the name signifies the harmony between inner power and responsible action."
