Shefali Jariwala's sudden demise has left the entertainment industry in shock. Known for her acting performances and participation in reality TV shows, she reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at the age of 42. However, investigations are being conducted to confirm the cause of her untimely demise.
Shefali first came into prominence after her performance in the iconic song, Kaanta Laga which made her a household name in 2002. While fans are trying to come to terms with the loss of a shining star, many recalled how, behind all the glam, Shefali had her fair share of personal struggles. One such chapter which has resurfaced amid the tragic news has been the late actress' first marriage to Harmeet Singh.
Before finding the love of her life in TV actor, Parag Tyagi, Shefali Jariwala first tied the knot with Harmeet Singh. He is a well-known face in the music industry and a part of the popular musical duo, Meet Bros. Harmeet initially appeared in popular TV shows like Ekta Kapoor's Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, KKusum and Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi before he found his calling in music. He has mostly stayed away from the media and avoided talking about his marital life with the media.
After TV, Harmeet collaborated with his brother, Manmeet, to create music. They have made songs for films like Do Dooni Chaar, Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum and more. Especially their songs, Baby Doll and Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan made them a household name. Shefali and Harmeet tied the knot in 2004 after dating for a brief period. She even worked with Harmeet for some Meet Bros' music videos, including Pyaar Humaayn Kis Mod Pe Le Aaya. However, after a couple of years, their marriage hit rock bottom, and they got divorced in 2009.
Shefali Jariwala or Harmeet Singh never directly spoke about their separation. But, the divorce wasn't a quiet one. According to The Times Of India, after the duo parted ways, Shefali had reportedly filed an FIR at Oshiwara police station. She had accused Harmeet of domestic abuse. Some media reports claimed that Shefali alleged that Harmeet had physically assaulted her and was emotionally abusive during their marriage.

The actress also accused him of withdrawing Rs. 12 lakh from their joint bank account without her consent. The serious allegations had shocked the fans and made headlines in 2009. It was one of the most talked about celebrity separations, but Harmeet rarely addressed the matter. However, later, Shefali briefly touched on the topic in an interview with Times Now Digital and explained that every violence isn't physical. She also mentioned that she could make the difficult decision to part ways with Harmeet only because she was financially independent. In her words:
"It is very important to understand that you are not being appreciated. Not every kind of violence is physical. There is a lot of mental violence that also happens, and you are very unhappy in your life. I think one of the reasons why I could decide for myself was because I was independent. The biggest fear in our country is society. Divorce is considered to be taboo, but the way I have been raised is to not really care about society but just do what we feel is right."
Despite her broken marriage, Shefali Jariwala found the love of her life in TV actor, Parag Tyagi, and they got married in 2014. On the other hand, Harmeet married Sunaina Singh, and they have a son together.
