The evening of January 7, 2025 (ET), was tainted by an unfortunate incident. The day that started like any other random Wednesday was soon marked by the blood of a woman named Renee Nicole Good. It all began with an immigration crackdown in Minneapolis on Wednesday, when an immigration officer shot Renne, claiming her life. 

The incident comes at a time when the citizens' faith in the officials is constantly being tested. Amid that, the fatal shooting has once again enraged the locals and the internet as a whole, as they question why the officer involved had drawn a firearm at a civilian in the first place. As reports of the incident take over the headlines, let us take a look at who the woman really was and what happened on the ill-fated day of January 7, 2026.

US President, Donald Trump claims the ICE agent acted in 'self-defence'?

The fatal incident has left everyone stunned, with the family of the deceased woman, Renee Nicole Good, grieving the unbearable loss. The incident happened during the ICE crackdown in Minneapolis when an officer shot Renee, who unfortunately lost her life. While the United States President, Donald Trump, has now insisted that the officer acted in pure self-defence, the Mayor of Minneapolis has refuted those claims. Jacob Frey rejected all allegations, citing that the woman had assaulted the federal agents, calling it "bullsh*t."

According to AFP, the Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, has also demanded that the ICE agents, who were carrying out a second day of large-scale raids, be withdrawn from the city following the incident. For the unversed, a video of the unfortunate event has allegedly been circulating online. While BollywoodShaadis could not authenticate the video, it shows a Honda SUV apparently blocking an unmarked law enforcement vehicle as it attempted to drive down a snow-covered street.

Who was Renee Nicole Good?

No matter what the intent was, it has resulted in the demise of a woman, which has left the locals and the world at large extremely unsettled. According to the reports, the woman whose life was claimed in the crackdown was Renee Nicole Good. She was the 37-year-old who attempted to drive off as officers approached and tried to open her door. The reports have revealed that it was then that one agent fired three times with a handgun as the vehicle pulled away.

Reports have further revealed that it was the United States President, Donald Trump, who had ordered the nationwide "anti-immigrant raids". The president accused the victim of "viciously" trying to run over the agent. After the incident, Donald Trump appeared on Truth Social, adding that the agent "seems to have shot her in self-defence." He claimed that "the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting."

According to reports, Renee Nicole Good was previously married and had a son from the marriage. While Federal authorities claim the incident occurred after she failed to comply with the orders, her mother has said the official's statement does not align with the daughter she knew. However, a video circulating online shows a person saying it is their wife and that they have a six-year-old in school. The video also recorded the person claiming that they were new in the area and didn't know anyone. The video ends with her shouting, "We need a doctor." The person in the video could be quoted as saying:

"That's my wife… I have a six-year-old in school… we’re new here and don’t know anyone."

What Renee Nicole Good's family said

Donna Ganger, in a conversation with the Minnesota Star Tribune, shared that her daughter, Renee Nicole Good, had been living in the Twin Cities with her partner. Allegedly, the person who could also be heard in the video. According to reports, the family was informed of Renne's death on late Wednesday morning. After the incident on January 7, 2026 (ET), local reporters contacted Donna. As per the reports, as soon as the media outlet shared the details of what had happened, the grieving mother expressed her dismay and disbelief over the situation. She was quoted as saying:

"That’s so stupid. She was probably terrified."

Renee Nicole Good's mother, Donna Ganger, further told the Minnesota Star Tribune that her daughter was "not part of anything like that at all", referring to demonstrators confronting ICE agents. Donna described her daughter, Renee, as one of the kindest people she had ever known. The mother also added that Renne was "extremely compassionate" and had "taken care of people all her life." Concluding her conversation with the Minnesota Star Tribune, Donna claimed that her daughter was "loving, forgiving and affectionate."

According to reports, the shooting took place near 34th Street and Portland Avenue, where several ICE vehicles were parked. As per Axios, traffic in the area had become extremely congested as drivers attempted to navigate around the federal vans. The report revealed that Renee Nicole Good was struck several times and was shot three times to the face, eventually dying from her injuries. Witnesses captured the incident on video and revealed it was chaotic and emotional. Minneapolis Police Chief has since confirmed that Renee Nicole Good was not the target of any ICE enforcement actions.
