Urmila Matondkar, a celebrated actress who began her career as a child artiste and has delivered powerful performances in Rangeela, Satya, Bhoot, Kaun, and other movies, has now reportedly filed for divorce from her husband, Mohsin Akhtar Mir, after eight years of marriage. The two tied the knot in 2016 in an interfaith marriage. The duo has a 10-year age gap.
A Kashmiri model, Mohsin Akhtar Mir moved to Mumbai to become an actor when he was 21. He had even bagged the second runner-up trophy in the Mr. India competition in 2007. He made his silver screen debut in the film, It's A Man'sWorld in 2009 and then went on to projects like Luck By Chance, Mumbai Mast Kallander, and B.A. Pass. After a few years of struggle, Mohsin shited his base towards the world of business and is now involved in Manish Malhotra's label. He also has a Kashmiri embroidery business.
Urmila Matondkar and Mohsin Akhtar have an age-gap of 10 years. While Urmila was born on February 4, 1974, Mohsin was born in 1984. The duo crossed paths at a party hosted by Manish Malhotra's niece, and it was love at first sight for Mohsin. But the duo has numerous differences.
Mohsin comes from a Muslim family, while Urmila comes from a Hindu Maharashtrian family. Mohsin was adamant about marrying Urmila, and the duo tied the knot in 2016. They first paid a visit to Amritsar's Golden Temple, followed by a Nikah. Their marriage, not socially accepted back in the day, faced numerous challenges. However, the duo'sunwavering commitment to each other saw them through.

“We kept it an exclusive wedding with just family and friends at the celebration. Since our families wanted the wedding to be a low-key affair. We mutually decided to keep it private. We seek your blessings on embarking on this new journey of our lives.”
They first had a Hindu wedding, followed by an intimate nikaah ceremony. Urmila graced the occasion in a stunning red-hued lehenga designed by the renowned Manish Malhotra. The lehenga, with its broad borders and intricate golden threadwork, was a sight to behold. She adorned herself with kundan jewellery, contrasting green bangles, and glamorous makeup. Mohsin, her dashing groom, was a perfect match in a peach-coloured sherwani with white pyjamas. The couple later hosted a reception for their industry friends, where Urmila, once again, dazzled in a white and golden-hued ensemble designed by Manish, while Mohsin looked dapper in a black tux.
