Tripti Dimri is no longer a lesser-known name as the actress made millions of fans with her appearance in Ranbir Kapoor starrer, Animal. Tripti, who played Ranbir’s love interest in the film, was called a ‘treat to watch’ as she struck a chord with the audience. Though she was cast in a supporting role in the film, her presence was undeniable in the film.
Though Tripti got a lot of attention for her role in Animal, the actress has also done some tremendous work prior to this. Categorised as one of the most stunning actresses in Bollywood, Tripti has been carving her own path in the entertainment world by redefining Bollywood’s narrative. Let us look at Tripti Dimri’s rise from a newcomer to become the national crush.

Tripti Dimri was born in Delhi to Dinesh Prasad Dimri and Meenakshi Dimri. The actress’ family hails from the small town of Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand. Tripti did her schooling at DPS Firozabad in Uttrakhand. After her schooling, Tripti did her graduation in sociology in Delhi. She later pursued an acting course at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune.
Tripti ventured into modelling in 2014-2015 before making it big on the silver screen. She had been a part of various magazine covers and commercials. Tripti was always inclined towards acting and also participated in many plays. The actress made her acting debut in 2017 in the Bollywood film, Poster Boys, which also starred actors, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Shreyas Talpade. Tripti was also seen in a brief role in Sridevi starrer, Mom.

Tripti’s first major role came with the film, Laila Majnu in 2018. Tripti played the lead role of Laila in the film, which garnered her a lot of applause. With her mesmerising beauty, Tripti captivated everyone’s heart. Tripti has struggled hard to pave her way in Bollywood. She once claimed that nothing comes easy for an outsider. In a throwback interview with a leading publication, the actress revealed that she was not the first choice for Laila Majnu. In her words:
“I had auditioned for the film in 2016 but I got rejected at that time. In 2017, I moved to Bombay and I got the script again and told my agency that there is no point in trying it again as I was already rejected.”
When Laila Majnu was released, the actress was on cloud nine and thought fans and lots of work would surround her, but nothing happened. In a conversation with Gulf News, the actress revealed that she waited for months to get any work. Sharing her experience, she said:
“A week before ‘Laila Majnu’ released, I was in the vegetable market thinking that after its release I would become so popular that I won’t be able to buy vegetables because fans would recognise me. But nothing happened and nobody spoke about the film. I waited for six or seven months and no offers came along for a long time. I just waited… There were days when I woke up, wondering what to do with my day. There was nothing, but waiting.”
In 2020, Tripti Dimri made her digital debut in Netflix’s supernatural drama, Bulbbul. The actress portrayed the role of a child bride, who endured several traumatic experiences. Her performance in the film garnered much attention and was tagged as the next big thing. She even received an OTT Filmfare Award for her acting in Bulbbul.

In 2022, Tripti appeared in a critically acclaimed film, Qala, and it was her attempt to try different genres. Just like her previous roles, Tripti outshined herself as she portrayed the role of a young singer. She also received a nomination for Best Actress in a Web Original Film.
In 2023, Tripti appeared in the much-awaited film, Animal, and she came out as a surprise even with her limited screen time. The highlight of the film was her intimate scenes with Ranbir Kapoor. However, the actress left a lasting impression on the viewers, and people cannot stop praising this budding actress, who, with just six films in her kitty, emerged as one of the most promising actresses.
The film, Animal got Tripti the tag of ‘national crush’. However, in some of her throwback interviews, the diva has called Ranbir Kapoor her ‘first crush’. In an interview with Free Press Journal, Tripti talked about the experience of working with her crush and revealed:
“It was amazing working with Ranbir Kapoor. The fact that he's such a warm and welcoming human, apart from being a great actor, speaks a lot about him.”
Tripti Dimri was rumoured to be dating actress, Anushka Sharma’s brother, Karnesh Sharma. For those who don’t know, Karnesh Sharma is a renowned producer, who co-founded Clean Slate Films with his sister back in 2013. Karnesh has also produced Tripti’s popular films, Bulbbul and Qala.

The couple had crossed paths on the sets of Bulbbul and reportedly fell in love. Just a night before the New Year 2023, the actress made her relationship with Karnesh's Instagram official. On December 31, 2022, taking to her IG stories, she shared a lovey-dovey picture with her boyfriend, Karnesh Sharma. In the picture, the couple shared a mushy moment. The doting boyfriend was also seen planting a kiss on Tripti’s cheeks. In an interview with ETimes, Tripti opened up about her relationship with Karnesh and stated:
“The ship has already sailed is what I can say right now.”
However, the rumours of their breakup started making rounds after Tripti and Karnesh unfollowed each other on Instagram and deleted pictures of each other. The two chose not to talk about the topic, and amid all the rumours, Tripti posted a cryptic post on her IG story, which can be read as:
“People are going to talk about you no matter what you do, so you might as well do whatever brings you joy.”
Tripti Dimri is a force to be reckoned with in the evolving landscape of Bollywood. She carved her own path with sheer grit and dedication; now, there is no looking back for this diva.
