Who is Tracy Cortez?

Tracy Cortez is an American professional martial artist, who is currently competing in the women’s flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Talking about her early life, Tracy was reportedly born in Phoenix, Arizona. She has three brothers, Jose, Abel and Juli. Tracy developed a passion towards MMA fighting at the age of 14, when she saw her brother in a match against Drew Fickett. 

However, Jose's dream was cut short as he passed away in 2011, due to germ cell cancer. This became a motivation for Tracy, who even got a tattoo on her arm in his honour. Even though she went through depression after the tragic incident, she entered the world of MMA fighting with the help of support from Henry Cejudo and Angel Cejudo.

Tracy Cortez’s MMA journey

Tracy Cortez began her MMA journey as a teenager, when she used to do training just as a hobby. However, when professionals noticed her talent, she started investing more time in the same. Before turning into a professional fighter, she competed in multiple amateur fights. According to UFC, Tracy's early career included a stint in Invicta FC. Later, she competed on Dana White’s Contender Series. 

MMA fighter, Tracy Cortez made her UFC debut in 2019, against Vanessa Melo. Her win over Vanessa is considered as one of the major highlights of Tracy's career. Over the years, she even competed against Justine Kish, Stephanie Egger, Melissa Gatto, Jasmine Jasudavicius and Viviane Araujo. Tracy also faced Rose Namajunas in July 2024. 

Tracy was once diagnosed with abdominal tumours

During the peak of Tracy Cortez’s career, In 2025, Tracy Cortez was at the peak of her career, however destiny had other plans as while training in Brazil, the fighter found that she was diagnosed with three large abdominal tumours that caused significant pain. For the same, she had undergone an immediate surgery. Later, she had a powerful comeback. 

Tracy Cortez’s upcoming MMA matches

Tracy Cortez is known for her balanced fighting style. Unlike many fighters, she focuses more on constant pressure, powerful clinch work and controlled grappling. She often wins her matches because of stamina and technique. In the past few months, she has faced several top fighters, including Viviane Araujo, Erin Blanchfield and more. As of now, there are no upcoming matches of the MMA fighter. However, fans can't wait to see that side of her again.

Tracy Cortez was engaged to Brian Ortega

Around 2020, Tracy made headlines for being in a relationship with UFC fighter, Brian Ortega. The two were often seen supporting each other at matches. At one point, multiple reports claimed that the duo had got engaged as Tracy was spotted with a diamond ring. Reportedly, Brian even had a tattoo of Tracy. However, their rumoured relationship hit the rocks and the two parted ways in 2023. The two had even deleted their photos from their social media accounts.

Tracy Cortez goes Insta-official with Alex Pereira

On January 1, 2026, Tracy Contez took to her Instagram Story to go official with UFC champion, Alex Pereira. The two celebrated New Year in the most perfect manner. In the photo shared by her, Alex is standing behind Tracy with his arms around her arms. And the two are passionately kissing each other. In the same, the couple was dressed in casual and matching outfits. For the unversed, Alex Pereira is a Brazilian professional martial artist and former kickboxing world champion. Over the years, he has held UFC titles in multiple weight classes.
