Gina Carano has finally closed the chapter on her years-long legal battle with Disney and Lucasfilm, which marks an end to a major controversy in Hollywood. It all began when the actress was fired from The Mandalorian. She confirmed the news on X and revealed that she and both production houses reached an agreement that is believed to be the best for all of them.
In turn, Lucasfilm also issued a positive note to confirm the news and mentioned that they looked forward to working together with the actress. The news has already made fans speculate that 'Cara Dune' will return to The Mandalorian. Although nothing is confirmed in that regard, here's everything to know about Gina Carano and her battle with Disney.
Gina Carano first rose to fame as a fierce competitor in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. She was often called the 'face of women's MMA' during her active years from 2006 to 2009, and she made history with Cris Cyborg in the first female-headlined Strikeforce event. However, she retired with a 7–1 record, and she transitioned to Hollywood. Since August 2009, Gina has not fought, and she has not been scheduled to take part in any forthcoming events.
Gina began her journey in Hollywood with Ring Girls, where she, along with four other American women, had to fight with the best Muay Thai fighters in the world. Soon she landed into mainstream lead roles in the 2011 film, Haywire, followed by Fast & Furious 6, and Deadpool. Despite being a part of leading franchises, her bigger role came as 'Cara Dune' in The Mandalorian, which brought her mainstream attention and a massive fan following.
Behind the spotlight, Carano's personal life has always kept fans and media intrigued. She is presently in a long-term relationship with former kickboxing champion Kevin Ross. The couple first dated in the mid-2000s, and after parting ways again reunited in 2015. He had played a major role in Gina's early fighting career and supported her transition into MMA. In a few of his social media posts, he described her as an 'inspiration' and his 'best friend'. However, before Ross, Gina had a highly publicised relationship with actor Henry Cavill. The two dated on and off between 2012 and 2014, and even adopted a dog together before they went ahead on different ways.

Gina Carano had filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney and Lucasfilm for wrongfully terminating her contract for The Mandalorian. In this Disney+ Star Wars TV series, she played 'Cara Dune' in the first two seasons. She had argued that the production houses fired her for expressing her political beliefs on social media. It all started when she made controversial posts about COVID-19 vaccines, the 2020 U.S. election, and a meme that led to Holocaust comparisons.
After receiving backlash, Disney cut ties with her in 2021. The actress accused in her lawsuit that she was unfairly targeted and silenced. However, after a long legal battle and efforts from tech billionaire Elon Musk, who funded her legal fees, she could settle the matter. She expressed her gratitude towards him while their terms of the settlement remain undisclosed.
Gina Carano's lawsuit settlement has given rise to rumours about her possible return as 'Cara Dune'. Do you want to see her back in the iconic role? Let us know.
