So, when she was spotted taking pictures of her husband's team during the December 28, 2025 (ET) match against San Francisco, it was the sweetest thing the internet had seen all week.

However, it didn't just take the social media world by storm, but also raised intrigue about who the couple really was. For the unversed, Simone Biles is an Olympic star, while Jonathan Owens has been playing for the Bears as a football safety since 2024. They are each other's biggest supporters. So, as the sports world remains mesmerised by the couple, let us take a look at who Simone Biles' husband really is.

Meet Simone Biles' husband, Jonathan Owens 

Jonathan Owens has become a well-known name in the sports world, especially since he joined the Chicago Bears in 2024. However, did you know that the football safety actually hails from Missouri? According to his Instagram bio, Owens is "just a kid from St. Louis." He attended the Christian Brothers College High School, where he played for the institute's football team. After completing high school, Owens played at the college level while attending Missouri Western State University and earned the title of Male Student-Athlete of the Year during his final season.

Jonathan Owens went on to sign with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent after the NFL draft in 2018. However, he injured himself during practice, which unfortunately led to him being benched even in his rookie season. In a conversation with News-Press in 2019, he reflected on the same and stated:

"I'm just lying on the ground crying because I don't even know how that works. I'm thinking, I came all the way here and got hurt."

Jonathan Owens' stint with the Chicago Bears

In March 2024, Jonathan Owens signed a two-year free-agent contract with the Chicago Bears. He previously spent a season with the Green Bay Packers and the Houston Texans. While Owens built his NFL career, Simone Biles made sure to support him from the stands. In September 2022, Biles even showed up for Owens' team by appearing in a celebrity-filled video ahead of the 2022-23 football season. In the clip, Biles flips through the gym in a Houston Texans jersey, representing her home state and Owens.

Simone Biles met Jonathan Owens on the dating app, Raya in 2020. The gymnast told WSJ Magazine in July 2021 that she made the first move after she found him 'cute'. Their relationship slowly grew, and they eventually started dating. While Biles was a well-known sportsperson herself, Owen didn't immediately recognise her, which the gymnast actually liked. During an episode of her docuseries, Simone vs Herself, Owens said that one of the things he was most impressed by was Biles' commitment to her craft. He stated:

"Her work ethic was the first thing that caught my eye. I'd never watch gymnastics before, when I first met I honestly didn't know who she was ... The coolest thing for me is that I get to witness someone who is literally at the pinnacle of their sport, it's motivating just to see that and the impact that she has on people."

The couple got married in an intimate courthouse ceremony on April 22, 2023. The Olympic gymnast dazzled in a halter-style wedding dress with tiered tulle, while Owens donned a tan suit. The couple exchanged vows again a month later, on May 6, 2023, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The event, held at the Umi Terrace at Nobu Los Cabos, was attended by 144 guests and featured lush florals, champagne, gold, and white décor.

Over the years, their support for each other has been the number one thing the fans have been in awe of. Despite their different sports, Biles and Owens have a lot in common when it comes to navigating their careers as professional athletes. Luckily, as Biles told PEOPLE in June 2021, the pair can always count on each other for support. In July 2024, just weeks before the Paris Olympics, Jonathan Owens got a cursive 'S' inked on his ring finger in honour of Biles. Owen's support for Biles was even reflected in his Bears contract, as he negotiated the ability to support his wife at the 2024 Paris Olympics while signing with the team. According to Yahoo! Sports, Owens said that being able to leave training camp to cheer Biles on at the Olympics was negotiated into his contract with the team. However, while he was glad to be there, he said watching Biles compete is "super nerve-wracking." Owens joined Biles' parents in the stands at the women's gymnastics team finals, where they watched her and Team USA cinch the gold medal.

Jonathan Owens' future in the NFL and family planning

In an interview with TODAY, during the 2024 Paris Olympics, Simone Biles told Hoda Kotb that she "most definitely" sees herself as a mom in the future. She revealed that they are both very passionate about their careers. However, they also want to have a family. She was quoted as saying:

"Jonathan and I always talk about kids. He would have them, like, yesterday if he could have. Obviously, we both have goals that we want to achieve before we start a family. But yes, that’s definitely in our future."
