Meet Former NCB Chief, Sameer Wankhede's Wife, Kranti Redkar, Actress, Who Took A Dig At Aryan Khan

The NCB director, Sameer Wankhede, was the man behind the high-profile case of Aryan Khan’s cruise drug case. The case brought a lot of A-listed Bollywood celebs into the limelight. However, eventually, Aryan was proven not guilty, and Sameer, on the other hand, was transferred from his posting.

Now, Sameer Wankhede is leading the headlines again after the release of Aryan Khan’s debut directorial series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood. In one of the scenes of the show, a look-alike of Sameer Wankhede was shown, mocking the former NCB director. After the release of the show, Sameer moved to the Delhi High Court seeking a permanent injunction against the show, filing a Rs. 2 crore defamation.

As Sameer pointed out, there was a malicious and defamatory portrayal in Aryan Khan's directorial debut show. His wife, Kranti Redkar, on the other hand, took a sly dig at Aryan and his show on social media. Born and raised in Mumbai, Sameer Wankhede’s wife, Kranti, ventured into films with her debut Marathi film, Sun Asavi Ashi. However, it was the song Kombdi Palali from Jatra: Hyalagaad Re Tyalagaad that brought her fame. She later established herself with films like Sakkha Savatra, Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho, Teen Bayka Fajiti Aika, Kho-Kho,  Sugar Salt Ani Prem and a few others.

She also worked in Hindi shows like Chittod Ki Rani and Simply Sapne. Not only this, but Kranti was also seen in a notable role in Prakash Jha’s Gangaajal. In 2015, Kranti widened her horizons and ventured into direction, making her directorial debut with Kaakan.

Not many people know this, but Kranti Redkar and Sameer Wankhede have known each other for a very long time, as they were classmates and attended Ramnarain Ruia College together. But they didn’t keep in touch after college. Years later, they had a chance encounter at the airport as Kranti was returning from an award show and Sameer was on duty.

Sameer recognised her immediately, and the duo connected with each other and became friends. Soon their friendship turned into love, and they started dating. It was Sameer’s dedication towards his work which drew Kranti towards him. After dating for a few years, Sameer proposed to Kranti and they got married on March 29, 2027, in a private ceremony. Soon, the couple welcomed parenthood and had twin daughters, Ziya and Zyda.

When Kranti Redkar reacted to allegations of bribery against Sameer Wankhede

When Sameer busted Aryan Khan’s drug case, he garnered a lot of limelight with his pictures leading the headlines on a daily basis. However, the ‘super cop’ drew a lot of negative attention too. It was also reported that Sameer was involved in a Rs. 25 crores deal in Aryan Khan's case after one of NCB's independent witnesses accused him of taking Rs. 8 crores as bribery in the high-profile cruise drug bust.

In an interview with ETimes, Sameer Wankhede's wife and actress, Kranti Redkar, reacted to the allegations of bribery against him. Calling it a plot to tarnish Sameer's reputation, Kranti stated that if Sameer had received Rs 8 crores as bribery, they would have settled in London and planned better things for their future. Rubbishing the allegations on Sameer, Kranti stated:

“Arre! Why would we go to the Maldives after he got Rs 8 crores? We should think of settling in London, buy a house and start a business and plan something better for us."

After Sameer Wankhede filed a defamation suit against Aryan Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., Netflix, his wife Kranti took a sly dig at Aryan. Taking to her IG handle, Kranti posted a video of Sameer, heaping praises on his efforts against drug abuse. Along with the video, she penned:

“Drug problem is deep, it’s not something to be made fun of or laughed at. Hope people realise the seriousness of this problem before it’s too late. Keep up the good work @swankhede.irs, your contribution to the society is profound. And we are all very proud of you.”
