According to TMZ and updates from her close friends, Sally tied the knot twice in her lifestyle. She initially tied the knot with Michael R. Jarrett in 1974, which ended in just a year 1974. Their brief union came to an end during the early days of her career, when she was still trying to establish her identity in Hollywood. According to sources, Sally mentioned her personal struggle to balance her budding career with her personal life affected her relationships.

After nearly a decade, Sally again found love in the arms of Mark Hebert, whom she married in 1985. Unfortunately, their union also ended in a divorce. Although much is not publicly known about the couple's separation, Sally's close friends reveal she always tried to find emotional depth and stability in her relationships. Yet, these things were difficult to work with in front of the cameras.

Despite her two marriages, Sally never had any biological children. According to her close ones, she never had the 'luxury of a life partner or children to lean on in difficult times. However, she had a strong bond with her late daughter, Jan Kirkland (the daughter of Rob Kirkland from his earlier relationship) and her granddaughter, Hannah Bonta. They were tragically murdered in 2019 in Florida. According to Local 10 News, Jason Dale Roseman was sentenced to life in prison for stabbing his brother during a domestic dispute. They passed away weeks after Robert's death due to kidney failure.

Sally Kirkland, who is now 84, is battling dementia. She has been placed in hospice care in Palm Springs, California. According to TMZ, her representative, Michael Greene, confirmed that she has been struggling with dementia for a year now. Her close friend and former student, Cody Galloway, has been by Sally's side in this challenging period.

Meanwhile, Sally's close friends earlier launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for her urgent medical care after she suffered life-threatening infections. According to the Page, Sally had a fall in the shower that injured her ribs, foot and left multiple unattended bruises on her body.

Sally Kirkland was born into a creative family, where her mother, a fashion designer, worked for Vogue and LIFE magazines. She began her acting journey in the 1970s and worked closely with Andy Warhol. Together, they starred in his film, 13 Most Beautiful Women. The most significant point in her career came with the 1987 film, Anna which earned her an Academy Award nomination. Apart from it, she has worked in films such as JFK, Bruce Almighty, and The Sting (1973).
