The second season of the popular series, Paatal Lok, is receiving a lot of rave reviews from the audience. The gripping storyline and twists in the show are making people hooked to their screens. Created by Sudip Sharma, the web series starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Ishwak Singh, and Tillotama Shome was released on January 17, 2024, and within a week of its release, the series is already garnering a lot of limelight.
The protagonist of the series, 'Hathi Ram Chaudhary', played by Jaideep Ahlawat, plays an underdog with many dimensions to his character. In the latest season of the show, 'Hathi Ram Chaudhary' travels to Nagaland to solve a murder mystery. While all the characters in the show gained a lot of attention, it was the deadly villain, ‘Daniel Lecho’, who got people’s attention.
As the character of ‘Daniel Lecho’ appeared on screen, many turned nostalgic as the face looked quite familiar to many. The role played by Prashant Tamang is pivotal in the whole series. Let us read on to know who is Prashant Tamang, aka ‘Daniel Lecho’.
Born in Darjeeling, West Bengal, Prashant is a popular name in Nepali films. He made his acting debut in 2010 with the film, Gorkha Paltan, which did very well at the box office. His debut film was followed by other releases like Angalo Yo Maya Ko, Kina Maya Me, Nishani, Pardesi and Ye Maya Hanima. Prashant also made a guest appearance in the Hindi television show, Amber Dhara.

Prashant Tamang lost his father, Madan Tamang, in an accident. After his father’s death, Prashant left school and joined the Kolkata Police as a constable in his father’s place. In addition to serving as a constable, Prashant also sang for the Police orchestra in the Kolkata Police.
Prashant was motivated by his subordinates and seniors for his singing. They motivated him to participate in the reality show, Indian Idol. He auditioned for Indian Idol 3 and got selected for the subsequent rounds. Prashant was the only contestant to have never been in the bottom three.
Despite not being so popular initially, Prashant’s voice soothed the audience, and he reached the top two along with Amit Paul. In the finale, Prashant got 70 million more votes than Amit and became the winner of Indian Idol season 3. He not just won the cash prize but also a Maruti Suzuki SX4.
After winning Indian Idol 3, Prashant Tamang launched his album titled Dhanyavad, which consisted of Nepali and Hindi songs. He also toured around the world and performed in various concerts. Apart from this, he lent his voice to a few Nepali films, too.
After the death of his father, Prashant became the breadwinner of his family. His family consists of his grandmother, mother and sister. In 2011, Prashant married Geeta Thapa in Nagaland. Geeta is a flight attendant by profession. Prashant and Geeta are proud parents of a daughter whom they have named Ariah.
With his intense performance as a snipper in Paatal Lok 2, Prashant Tamang has gained widespread acclaim.
