Following the passing of Doug Martin, the football world was dealt another shock with the passing of Nick Mangold. The legendary centre for the New York Jets has passed away at the age of 41. His untimely demise on the night of October 25, 2025, has left fans and his teammates mourning.
The Jets' chairman, Woody Johnson, praised him with a touching note, mentioning that Nick was the "heartbeat" of their team's offensive line for nearly a decade. As fans recall his wonderful moments in the game, here is everything to know about his wife, Jennifer Richmond, and their four little kids.

Nick Mangold is survived by his wife, Jennifer Richmond, and their four children: Matthew, Eloise, Thomas, and Charlotte, who was born in the fall of 2019. Nick and Jennifer were high school sweethearts from Ohio. They dated for a while before they tied the knot in April 2007, during his second year in the NFL. Since the beginning of his NFL career, Jennifer had been by Nick's side. Despite his popularity on the field, the couple maintained a private but devoted family life.

Nick was known as the father who balanced his hectic career with raising a healthy family. The couple initially lived in Chatham, New Jersey, when Nick began his professional career and later moved to Madison, New Jersey, after his retirement. Nick was actively involved in coaching youth football and supporting his children's activities.

Nick Mangold's death comes less than two weeks after he publicly opened up about his need for a kidney transplant. Nick was previously diagnosed with a genetic abnormality in 2006 that led to chronic kidney disease. He was undergoing dialysis while awaiting a donor. Moreover, he also revealed that he had no family members able to donate and had requested a donor with type O blood. In an emotional social media post on October 14, 2024, he penned:

"I always knew this day would come, but I thought I would have had more time. While this has been a tough stretch, I'm staying positive and focused on the path ahead. I'm looking forward to better days and getting back to full strength soon. I'll see you all at MetLife Stadium & The Shoe very soon."
Nick Mangold had an exceptional career on the field. He was drafted in the first round from Ohio State in 2006 and became a seven-time Pro Bowl selection. He is considered one of the best centres in NFL history. During his term with the Jets, Nick had helped lead the team to two AFC Championship games. Apart from football, Nick pursued his passion for cooking and entrepreneurship. He even created a popular small-batch BBQ sauce owing to his passion for cooking. Expressing gratitude, Nick wrote in his last statement:
"My family has been my rock every step of the way. I've been so lucky to have the love and support of my wife and kids throughout this journey. I hope to continue making memories with them in every moment I have left."
