"Times have changed, and most people already call me Rob Mac anyway. My family knows me and loves me regardless of how many syllables I have, and that’s the only thing that I really care about."

The actor had downplayed the entire thing and had not made a fuss about it. Rob was further heard, in the video, saying that there are so many things going on in the world, and this is a silly one to continue wasting your time on. He also revealed of being fine with being called whatever his fans wanted to call him.

Yet we had nothing but love and support and compassion and empathy. And I think that that allowed us to flourish."

Rob McElhenney also revealed that he had the courage to show his character, 'Sunny' as gay. He revealed that when 'Mac', another character, came out of the closet, it got an amazing response from the LGBTQ community that he did not expect. He revealed that he did not realise that so many fans of 'Sunny' were not only members of the community, but thought of 'Sunny' as a true advocate.

Back in 2020, he had hogged the limelight for co-purchasing the Welsh footbll club named, Wrexham A.F.C with actor, Ryan Reynolds.
