Julie Bowen was born on March 3, 1970, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was raised in the suburbs of Ruxton-Riderwood and spent her junior year in Florence, Italy. She soon found her passion for acting during college and made her acting debut in 1992 with the soap opera, Loving. However, it was her recurring role in ER as 'Roxanne Please' that left a lasting impression, further solidified by her portrayal as an English teacher, 'Carol Vessey', in Ed.

The actress soon starred opposite Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore. Nonetheless, a role for which she will always be remembered is 'Claire Dunphy' in the 2009 sitcom, Modern Family. It was in her early twenties that the actress was diagnosed with a heart condition called bradycardia, which resulted in her having to get a pacemaker. However, she embraced life's challenges and has lived her life to the fullest.

Later, in an interview, Julie clarified what had happened and revealed that they had celebrated their anniversary on the day of the Emmys. She shared that he tags along with her every year. However, he was competing in a tennis tournament that year, so she suggested that he focus on that instead. 

"We just had our anniversary on the day of the Emmys, which was hilarious. He's come every year; he's been so supportive. This year, he was playing in a tennis tournament, and I wasn't nominated as an individual, so I said, 'What do you want to do on our anniversary?' I mean it's such an honour to be nominated and to go, but it's tough to be a purse holder."

It was in February 2018 when People reported that Julie Bowen and Scott Phillips had parted ways. A few days later, the news was further confirmed by TMZ, which reported that Julie had filed for divorce from Scott. Their divorce was finalised in September 2018, after agreeing to split their 25.3 million US dollars evenly down the middle.
