Josh Giddey has decided to close out 2025 with a full-on hard launch of his romance. The 23-year-old Australian NBA star officially went public with his new relationship on Christmas Day 2025, sharing cosy photos in matching comfy pyjamas and UGG boots alongside his girlfriend, Alyssa Paranteau, as they posed with their furbabies.
In the holiday snaps shared on his Instagram stories, the NBA guard and his lady love cuddled up with their pets as they smiled for the camera. In the background, Christmas decorations with personalised stockings hung, making it a wholesome way to make their romance official. Now that they are officially a couple, here's what we know about Giddey's new love.

Alyssa is a Canadian-born model and lifestyle influencer with a growing online presence. She has over 11K followers on Instagram, where she is quite active and regularly posts glimpses of her life. Her social media content mainly focuses on fashion, travel, and everyday luxury, and her followers often comment on her posts with GIFs of Josh Giddey, hinting at their secret romance.

Alyssa was first linked to the Aussie NBA guard in late 2025, though it was mostly secret, and only those close to the couple knew about the relationship. Their Christmas post marked the first time that Giddey acknowledged the relationship in public. Paranteau herself had posted a snap with Giddey on her IG Stories to share their Christmas moments.

Josh Giddey has had a tough past year, and his friends agree that this new relationship has brought a positive change in the NBA star's life. For those unaware, Giddey had been embroiled in a messy legal situation early on in his professional career after he became the subject of extensive scrutiny regarding an "inappropriate" relationship.

In late 2023, Josh got into legal trouble after claims circulated on social media alleging that he was romantically involved with an underage girl. The original claim, posted by an X user, stated that the player, then 21, had been involved with a high-school student. The buzz spread like wildfire, prompting the NBA to investigate. Notably, the account that posted the claims was later deleted.

The Newport Beach Police in California began a formal investigation into the case, which continued from December 2023 to January 2024. On January 17, 2024, the police announced that they wouldn't pursue charges against the Oklahoma City Thunder guard due to a lack of evidence. The statement read:
"After a thorough and exhaustive examination, we have completed our investigation into information that was circulating on social media involving Josh Giddey. Our detectives have reviewed all of the available information and were unable to corroborate any criminal activity related to Mr. Giddey."
Two days later, a lawyer representing the girl explained publicly that the case was dropped, stating that the prosecutors had no evidence or cooperation to support the claims. Though he was cleared to play during the investigation, Giddey was subjected to boos from opposing crowds and heavy online abuse during games. In a later interview, he admitted there were days he struggled mentally but credited teammates, family, and coaches for helping him through it.

Josh Giddey is a 23-year-old Australian NBA guard currently playing for the Chicago Bulls. Born in October 2002 in Melbourne, Victoria, he represented Australia at the 2019 FIBA Oceania Under-17 Championship, where he helped the team win gold. He began his professional career in Australia's NBL, winning the Rookie of the Year title in 2021. After getting selected 6th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder, he quickly became a popular name with his triple-double ability. In 2022, Giddey earned the NBA All-Rookie Second Team honours.

In 2024, the Bulls traded Giddey as a cornerstone guard, and he averaged close to a triple-double in the 2024-25 season. Standing at 6 feet and 7 inches, he has proved his versatility in both point guard and shooting guard roles. He was recently rewarded a four-year contract extension from the Bulls worth approximately USD 25 million per season (around USD 37 million annually). With this deal, he officially becomes one of Australia's highest-paid young basketball stars, in line with fellow Aussie Dyson Daniels, who signed a USD 100 million (AUD 150 million) extension with the Atlanta Hawks after winning the NBA’s Most Improved Player award.
Going public with Alyssa Paranteau signals a more open chapter for a player long described as reserved and private. Looks like the Aussie heartthrob is finally getting the happiness that had been missing in his recent past.
