Meet Billy Bob Thornton's Wife, Connie Angland, An Animatronic Engineer, Shares One Kid With Actor

Billy Bob Thornton is a man of many talents, being an actor, filmmaker, screenwriter, and singer-songwriter. He rose to international fame back in 1996 after writing, directing, and starring in the independent drama film, Sling Blade. Over the years, Billy has become known for his work in both film and television, such as Jayne Mansfield's Car, The Gift, Friday Night Lights, Goliath, and Landman. 

At present, Billy Bob Thornton is grabbing the headlines after he confirmed that the production for the third season of Landman is set to begin in May 2026. Not only will Billy be back for the new season, but he also has another major project: a new Boxmasters album, In The Bay, set to be released on June 12, 2026. He and his band will then hit the road for The Boxmasters' 2026 Morro Rock Tour. Now, with Billy's professional life in the limelight, many fans have become curious about his personal life, especially his wife, Connie Angland, and their relationship.

Billie Bob Thornton's wife, Connie Angland, has worked behind the scenes of movies as a puppeteer, makeup artist, and special effects artist. The 1990 cult classic, Arachnophobia, was her first major credit as an animatronic engineer. For the unversed, the movie starred John Goodman and Jeff Daniels. Some of her other noteworthy career highlights include seaming and patching, a silicone makeup technique for hit films like Men in Black, Planet of the Apes, and Men in Black II. Well, Men in Black II was actually Connie's last credited project.

According to a report by People, Billy Bob Thornton and Connie met sometime after the former's divorce from his fifth wife, actress, Angelina Jolie, in May 2003. This is why the fact that if he married Connie, it would have made her his sixth wife, made Billy never want to marry again to save his ladylove from public scrutiny. He confessed his fears during a 2008 interview with Maxim, saying, "I told Connie I didn't want to put her through that. We do fine. We've been together for four years now. We have a child together. If we get married, then the press will start calling her 'Number Six.'" 

However, it seemed like Billy changed his mind a few years later. It was on October 22, 2014, that Billy and Connie quietly tied the knot. It is worth noting that the public only learned of their marriage in February 2015. At the time, a representative for Billy told People that the pair had wed “at their home in Los Angeles during a private ceremony before family.” 

Billy Bob Thornton himself spoke about his marriage to Connie during his appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden. He said they got married in their front yard, with a minister who came to their home, to avoid the paparazzi and press. Apparently, he and Connie also signed paperwork that would not become part of the public record. This was so that they could keep the news of their marriage under wraps until they were finally ready to share it with the world. Many might not be aware, but apart from their secret wedding, another big sign of his love and commitment to Connie is that Billy has his wife's name tattooed on his spine, according to GQ.

Back in April 2004, Connie and Billy Bob Thornton shared the happy news that they were expecting. The couple welcomed their child, a daughter named Bella, on September 22, 2004. While Bella is Connie's only child, she is Billy's fourth, considering the children he had from his previous marriages. In late 2004, the actor shared, “I haven't been a father of an infant for a long time, so it takes some getting used to again. But you don't forget about the diaper.” Over the years, Billy has shared quite a few details about his daughter and Connie's. For instance, he has described her personality as “fiery” and “sweet,” and noted that she enjoyed reading to him while dressing up like a ladybug when she was 9.

Later, during a 2016 interview with GQ, Billy said he enjoys driving his daughter around and listening to her favourite pop music, including artists like Taylor Swift and Christina Perri. Apparently, Billy has Bella's name tattooed on his left arm. It is worth noting that during his October 2015 appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, he said that he and Connie decided to get married for Bella. He was quoted as saying:

"We did for her, really. Because after a while, it was like, 'Why aren't my mommy and daddy married after 12 years?' The reason I didn't want to [get married initially] is, my marriages were always very short, and I don't like to try to fix things that aren't broken. I said, 'Look, I got a pretty bad record, and things are going fine.'"

A few years ago, during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live in September 2021, the Landman actor revealed that he and Connie had just moved into a new house in Pacoima, California. They chose the house because it had a home recording studio. Apparently, it was Connie who wanted them to have that because it keeps Billy at home. He added: And also, I don't have to drive all the way to the Sunset Marquis [hotel in West Hollywood] when she kicks me out. I can just go down the hill to the recording studio.” 

Connie Angland and Billy Bob Thornton have occasional red carpet date nights

Connie and Billy are known for being homebodies. Despite this, the couple do occasionally hit the red carpets together. This includes the 2022 premiere of Netflix's The Gray Man. More recently, Connie and Billy were seen attending the premiere of the latter's hit show, Landman, in November 2024.
