The Women's Premier League mega auction concluded in New Delhi with 67 players being sold to five franchises. One Indian player who has been in the focus is on Bharti Fulmali. The Indian players have been in high focus after their ODI win ahead of the fourth edition of WPL, which will kick off on January 9, 2026, with matches in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara.
For the unversed, Bharti Fulmali was born in Amravati, Maharashtra. She was raised in a region where women's cricket was not well-regarded and lacked visibility compared to the metros. According to a Times of India report, Bharti, in her childhood, once broke the two-wheeler rearview mirror during a gully match with the guys in 2004. Ever since then the 27 year-old- cricketer has not even looked back.

Gujarat walked in the Women's Premier League 2025 auction. In the first two seasons, they struggled but took the third spot in the previous season. In the recent WPL Auctions, Bharti was bought by the Gujarat Titans for a whopping Rs. 70 lakhs. According to a report by the Free Press Journal, Bharti's retention cost was Rs. 70 lakh. She joined the team in 2024 and will continue her league ahead in the franchise.

Bharti Fulmali has been known for her aggressive batting style and has always been way ahead of her competition. It was at the age of 13 that she played for the Under-19 team of Vidarbha. At the age of 17, the right-handed batswoman had made her senior women's T20 debut back in 2011-2012. Reportedly, it was here that she got her nickname, 'Lady Gayle', after hitting six sixes against Madhya Pradesh. This was inspired by Chris Gayle.

The two great sixes hit by Bharti made her announcement in the women's circuit and had made her a Vidarbha stable middle order batter who had shared responsibility with Mona Meshram, a now ex- Indian player. Post she left for the Railways, Bharti carried on the responsibility of the team on her young shoulders. Bharti has always been inspired by Chris Gayle's approach in cricket and has hit five sixes back in the Senior Women's One Day League.

Bharti Fulmali has been known for her aggressive batting style on the field. It was seen in her match against Andhra in Guntur, and her back-to-back knocks in the Challenger Trophy showed a different side of the Vidarbha girl. She had started off her professional coaching with World Cricket Academy and back in 2015-16 she had become the Vidarbha Under-23 skipper for the first time. Bharti played for Vidarbha for many years and wanted to play for Team India. She has been talented, with having the capacity to hit the ball very hard and also score if required. Her domestic career in cricket was done in her home state, where Bharti became a middle order batter and also an occassional medium paced right arm bowler.

Bharti's performances in domestic cricket always stood out. She was selected for the India Blue Women during the 2018-19 Senior Women's Challenger Trophy. Post she amped up her domestic game, Bharti in 2024 was picked by Gujarat Giants Women. As per a Scroll report she was a replacement for an injured player named, Harleen Deol. In WPL 2024, Bharti was seen in just three matches, where she created 64 runs. Bharti got another contract with the team for 2025. Bharti's innings in WPL 2025 became the talk of the town. This is because when Gujarat Giants had a high-octane match against Mumbai Indians Women, she created 61 runs in only 25 balls with eight boundaries and also four sixes.
