Arijit Singh, the man behind creating soulful music, broke many hearts as he announced his retirement from playback singing. He became an overnight sensation with the song, Tum Hi Ho, from the film, Aashiqui 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur. However, Arijit clarified that although he will stop taking up new assignments as a playback vocalist, he will not stop making music. So, Arijit fans rejoice.
The sudden announcement made every fan of Arijit shocked. Over the years, Arijit have given many hits, including Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Apna Bana Le, Zaalima, Hawayein and more. Coming to his personal life, Arijit is happily married to his childhood friend, Koel Roy. The couple tied the knot secretly in a temple in West Bengal. Despite his immense popularity, Arijit loves to lead a modest life with his wife, in his hometown, Murshidabad, West Bengal.

According to KulFiy India, Koel Roy, who is widely known as Arijit Singh’s wife, was born in 1991 in West Bengal. Very little information is available online about Koel as she prefers to keep her personal life private. Koel and Arijit were childhood friends. As per the same outlet, before tying the knot with Arijit, Koel was married to someone. Later, due to an undisclosed reason, they parted ways. Reportedly, the former couple shares a daughter.

According to multiple reports, Arijit Singh and Koel Roy got married in January 2014, in Tarapith Temple in West Bengal. The couple got married as per Bengali customs. The wedding ceremony was attended by the couple’s family and close friends. The duo is parents to two sons, Ali and Jul. For the unversed, Jul acted in a film, Sa, directed by Arijit. The film was the directorial debut of the singer. In a past interview with Bombay Times, Arijit shared his son’s journey as an actor. He was quoted as saying:
"Someone told me that I should cast my son, Jul. Jul had been with us and was used to the kids in the village. He used to climb the trees and swim in the pond. As a man brought up in rural West Bengal, I also loved seeing him do that. Each time I was told to cast him, I thought wo gadbad karega. But eventually, when I cast Jul, he did a brilliant job. My son surpassed my expectations."

Further in the interview, Arijit shared that usually his son, Jul, feels sleepy after 10 at night, but for the sake of his film, he stayed up all night and gave his shot. He revealed that Jul used to cry on his lap after every shot. Arijit lauded his son, Jul, for his dedication. He was quoted as saying:

"Usually, uska batti gul ho jaata hai 10 baje ke baad, but he stayed up in the night for my sake and shot the film. Yes, after every shot, he would come and cry on my lap. He didn't like doing that. I understood his feelings, because I didn't like staying up in the night, too, but we together did what was required, and he did it very well."
Despite his immense stardom, Arijit enjoys living a modest life. In May 2024, during the Lok Sabha votes, Arijit was spotted in his hometown, Jiaganj, in Murshidabad. He was riding a scooter, while his wife, Koel seated behind him. The down-to-earth moment captured a lot of attention. The couple visited a local school and cast their votes.
