In September 2024, Justin Timberlake pleaded guilty to impaired driving for an incident that occurred in June of that year in Sag Harbor in the Hamptons, New York. According to police accounts, the singer-actor ran a stop sign and veered out of his lane with his BMW, and when he exited his car, he smelled of alcohol and showed signs of intoxication. 

On March 20, 2026, a redacted version of the bodycam footage from that night was released in public following the settlement of a privacy lawsuit that Timberlake had filed against the police department. The former NSYNC singer had argued in the lawsuit that releasing the video would "devastate" his privacy by revealing "intimate, highly personal, and sensitive details." However, with the lawsuit now settled, the department has released a redacted version of the footage.

The newly released bodycam footage from Justin Timberlake’s 2024 arrest offers a clearer look at the moments leading up to his detention. In the clip, the singer is seen speaking to officers in slow, slightly slurred speech. He can be heard saying:

"Guys, I’m just following my friends back to my house. I'm not doing anything. I'm just following my friends back to my house."

When the officials ask him to perform a series of sobriety tests, Timberlake visibly struggles with the instructions. During a heel-to-toe walk, he steps off the line multiple times and takes more steps than required. In another test, where he is asked to balance one foot and count, he falters and has difficulty maintaining stability. At one point during the tests, the singer admits that his "heart is racing" and that these were "really hard tests." Shortly after, he was in handcuffs.

After Timberlake pleaded guilty to impaired driving, his misdemeanour charge was reduced to a non-criminal traffic violation, leaving him with a USD 500 fine, a 90-day license suspension, and 25 hours of community service.

What Justin Timberlake has said about his DUI arrest

According to the singer's lawsuit, the original bodycam footage was nearly eight hours long, which captured everything that happened from Timberlake's initial traffic stop, the interrogation, sobriety tests, and the eventual arrest. When asked how drunk he was, Timberlake told officers he had consumed "only one martini." Later, he himself reflected on the night and admitted his mistake, saying:

“Even if you’ve had one drink, don’t get behind the wheel of a car. This is a mistake that I made, but I’m hoping that whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake. I know that I certainly have.”

On Timberlake's 45th birthday, on January 31, 2026, the 7th Heaven actress shut down the rumours by posting photos of them together, calling her husband her "best friend" and describing her as his "number one fan." She has also supported him through his health struggles and demanding schedule, and doesn't pay heed to the fallout buzz.

Despite insider suggestions that there may still be unresolved tensions behind closed doors, Biel's consistent support indicates that even if the rumours were somewhat true, the two were working to navigate all challenges together, as a team.
