Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna are now husband and wife. The much-in-love couple tied the knot on February 26, 2026, in an intimate ceremony in Udaipur. Their wedding was attended by only family members and close friends. Now that both Vijay and Rashmika shared photos from their wedding ceremony, an old statement of the Kingdom actor has resurfaced, in which he revealed that he was scared to marry Rashmika on-screen.
For the unversed, Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna first met on the sets of the 2018 film, Geetha Govindam. Well, it is worth mentioning that the film consists of the song, Vanchindamma, where the two had to tie the knot with each other to make it look real and authentic. Years later, now that Vijay and Rashmika have officially tied the knot, read on to revisit Vijay's old statement.

In 2018, when Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna were promoting their film, Geetha Govindam, they sat down for a conversation with NTV. During the same, the Kingdom actor had revealed that while shooting the song, he was perfectly fine with wearing a wedding outfit, however, he got really scared, when he was asked to tie all three knots of the mangalsutra. Vijay Deverakonda was quoted as saying:
"Sitting in a pelli mandapam (wedding altar) and all is fine, but there’s a shot of me tying the three knots (of the mangalsutra). It scared me a lot."

Further, Vijay Deverakonda shared that even though he knew it was a shoot, he found it a little weird to tie the knots on the mangalsutra. Vijay also spoke about his now-wife, Rashmika Mandanna and shared that she was comfortable while doing the scene, because she had got married twice on screen. In his words:
"Even though I knew it was just a shoot, the girl (Rashmika) is sitting there in a pattu cheera (silk saree). And I’m there in a pattu pancha (traditional dhoti). It all looks like a proper wedding, with flowers and everything. They asked me to tie all three knots in the shot. I was like, what is even happening? I was telling the heroine, this is really weird. This was the third time she had gotten married on screen, and she wasn’t worried."

Apart from Vijay Deverakonda, during an interview with The News Minute, Rashmika Mandanna had once shared that she was very scared of Vijay on the first day of their shoot. However, after knowing him, she got comfortable. Further, when asked about sharing an on-screen kiss with Vijay, the actress explained:

"For me, a kiss and all is a very personal thing. It is a very intimate thing. Two hundred people were watching, and I was like, how? But I think Vijay was feeling the same."
On February 26, 2026, Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna got married in an intimate ceremony in Udaipur. Their wedding ceremony was attended by close friends and family. For the unversed, after getting married according to Telugu traditions, the duo even had a Kodava ceremony. Later, on February 26, 2026, Rashmika and Vijay shared dreamy photos from their Telugu wedding and penned emotional notes for each other.

For those who missed it, Vijay Deverakonda, in his note, revealed that one day when he missed Rashmika, he realised that the actress can make his day better by just existing. Further, he called Rashmika his ‘best friend’. Apart from him, Rashmika, too, shared cutesy photos and introduced fans to her husband. She also recalled her love story with Vijay and mentioned that he taught her how to love someone. Towards the end of her note, Rashmika expressed her excitement to be Vijay’s wife.
