Rajat Patidar is hogging the limelight for the ongoing IPL match between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Ahead of the 2025 season, Rajat was appointed as the captain of RCB. Today, on April 12, 2026, MI and RCB are having a face-off at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Under Rajat’s guidance, the RCB team won the first trophy in their 18-year IPL history.
Time and again, Rajat has proved his dedication towards the sport. Reportedly, Rajat started playing cricket at the age of 8. On October 30, 2015, Rajat made his first-class cricket debut for the Ranji Trophy. While his professional front stayed in the limelight, he has kept his personal life private. He has been married to Gunjan since 2022. According to multiple reports, Rajat and his wife, Gunjan, are blessed with a baby boy on March 19, 2026. But do you know Rajat had to postpone his marriage multiple times to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore? Yes, you read it right. So, if you are interested in knowing more about the same, we’ve got you covered.

Rajat Patidar joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore back in 2021. However, he rose to fame in IPL 2022 when he scored a century in the IPL 2022 eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants. But he was not supposed to feature in the IPL 2022 as he went unsold in the mega-auction. Due to this, Rajat planned to get married to a girl named Gunjan, chosen by his family. He was supposed to tie the knot on May 9, 2022, but he got a surprise call-up as a replacement player at the last moment. With no other option, he had to postpone his wedding.

At the time, Rajat’s father, Manohar Patidar, spoke to the New Indian Express and said that they had planned for a small gathering. He highlighted that Rajat’s wedding was not supposed to be a grand affair, and thus, no invitation cards were printed. He revealed that the girl whom Rajat would marry hails from Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. He added that they had booked a hotel for the guests. Manohar was quoted as saying:
"We have chosen a girl from Ratlam for him. The plan was to get him married on May 9. It was supposed to be a small function and I had booked a hotel too in Indore. The marriage was not supposed to be a grand affair, so we didn't get invitation cards printed. I have booked a hotel for limited guests but the booking has been advanced as we plan to hold the function in July once he is free from his responsibility with the Madhya Pradesh Ranji team."

In March 2026, Rajat Patidar took to his Instagram Stories and shared a heartfelt note as he embraced fatherhood for the first time. He revealed his reaction when he held his baby for the first time. He called the baby’s arrival, the greatest blessing. The RCB captain added that he felt truly complete after welcoming his first child with his wife, Gunjan. He wrote:

"Today is the most special day of my life. When I held my baby for the first time, it felt as if all the hard work and all the joy had come together in an instant. This isn't just my joy; it's our family's greatest blessing. I don't have words to express it; I just thank God from the bottom of my heart. Today, I am truly complete."
During a media interaction, Rajat was asked about becoming a father nine months after winning the IPL title for his team, RCB. The captain said that it happened "coincidentally". He was further asked about his plans to have more kids. In response, Rajat said, "Let's see, I have to talk with my wife." When it comes to anything personal, Rajat is extremely private. Not much is known about his and his wife, Gunjan’s love story. According to a report by Starsunfolded, Rajat tied the knot with Gunjan on July 7, 2022. If the report is believed to be true, then the couple embraced parenthood after three years of marriage.
