Derry's scary journey is about to reach its breaking point as It: Welcome to Derry Season 1 prepares to air the highly anticipated season finale. HBO's prequel series has slowly unfolded the origins of 'Pennywise' and the town's long history of violence, fear, and denials. Since Episode 8 is set to arrive in just a few hours, fans are now preparing for some major revelations and unexpected losses. Here's when and where you can watch the It: Welcome To Derry finale and what to expect in episode 8.
The finale episode of It: Welcome To Derry will stream tonight, Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Max (formerly known as HBO Max). At the same time, it will air on HBO and JioHotstar in certain regions, including India. Other International viewers can stream the episode in the UK on Sky Max and NOW TV as per their local broadcast schedules. Since It: Welcome to Derry is a Max original series, Episode 8 will be available to stream on demand shortly after the live premiere.

It: Welcome To Derry's Episode 8 is expected to give the long-awaited answers about Pennywise's true origins and Derry's disturbing past. According to the show's creators, it will explore how fear is deliberately created in the town, and Derry residents allow it to grow. Additionally, the episode will reportedly focus on the consequences of 'Pennywise' being awakened prematurely, taking the story towards an extremely violent and emotional climax.

One major focus of the storyline lies on 'Will Hanlon', who was exposed to Pennywise's Deadlights in Episode 7. It will be important to see what happens to him as he is the father of 'Mike Hanlon' from the It films. Although he must survive in one form or the other to preserve the continuity of the films, sources have alleged that he may suffer lasting psychological damage in the finale, which could shape his future.

It: Welcome to Derry's finale will reportedly bring the core group of characters, including 'Marge', 'Ronnie', and 'Lilly', together for an extreme attempt to tackle 'Pennywise'. Several other characters, such as 'Dick Hallorann' and 'Major Leroy Hanlon', are also expected to play key roles as the military's dangerous plan to weaponize fear spirals out of control.

At the same time, the trailers and teasers released from the beginning to the finale have hinted at multiple deaths, fulfilling the show's initial promise that "no one is safe". Several scenes have already shown characters hanging in the air, vanishing, or being pulled into darkness, hinting that some fan-favorite characters may not survive the episode. Moreover, the makers have hinted at a 'very emotional" need, making it worth the wait.

Although 'Pennywise' will most likely not be defeated since the series takes place decades before the happenings of It and It Chapter Two, he will likely kill many major characters. 'Pennywise's Survival is sure, but the final will witness him completing his feeding cycle and going into a 27-year hibernation. Some characters, including 'Will Hanlon', 'Dick Hallorann', and 'Leroy Hanlon', are expected to survive due to their significant role in the future. However, ot,hsuch aslike 'Marge' and members of the town's activist gr,oups are widely believed to be in grave danger.
It: Welcome to Derry is a love-action supernatural horror series set in 1962, serving as a prequel to the recent It films. The show is inspired by the interludes of Stephen King's novel and shows the historical tragedies linked to Pennywise's cycle of violence. Season 1 consists of eight episodes, which received praise for its psychological horror, disturbing imagery, and deep exploration of generational trauma. Now, the finale will again signify one clear truth: Derry will never be the same again.
