Miley Cyrus is currently in the news for her engagement to Maxx Morando. Miley is one of the most loved artists in Hollywood. The Hannah Montana fame has been dating Maxx, a musician, for over 4 years. She and Maxx recently attended the red-carpet event at Hollywood's iconic Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and Miley was seen flaunting a huge yellow diamond ring.
Many millennials grew up watching Miley Cyrus go from child star on Hannah Montana to a grown-up teen in The Last Song. Besides her professional life, Miley has garnered a lot of attention for her relationships. Before getting engaged to Maxx Morando, Miley had been in many high-profile relationships.

Miley dated Nick Jonas, Justin Gaston, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Cody Simpson. However, her relationship with actor, Liam Hemsworth is still her most talked about relationship. After a decade-long on-and-off relationship, Miley and Liam got married in 2018. However, within just seven months, they announced their split, and their divorce was finalised in 2020. Despite being madly in love with each other, why did Miley and Liam part ways? Let’s read on to know.

It was during the making of The Last Song that Miley and Australian actor Liam fell in love. Though she had many relationships in the past, Liam was the one who made her believe in true love. The duo dated on and off for three years before getting engaged in 2012. However, in 2013, Liam and Miley called off their engagement and parted ways.

After three years, Liam and Miley reconciled and started dating each other again. The couple was seen engaging in numerous PDAs and looked head-over-heels in love. Finally, after a lot of rumours about their secret wedding, Miley and Liam got married on December 23, 2018, at their home in Franklin, Tenn. The duo announced the news by posting wedding portraits on Instagram. A source close to the couple talked about their relationship to People and said:
“They don't have doubts about their relationship. They both wanted to get married. They have both matured a lot, and it seemed like the perfect time for them to get married."

Just when Miley’s fans thought that the singer had found her forever, the couple announced their split within just seven months of their marriage. It was Miley’s rep who announced her separation from Liam, stating that the couple would remain dedicated to their pets. Three days after the announcement, Liam addressed his split from Miley in an Instagram post and wrote:
“Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated, and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward."
As per multiple reports, it was Liam who had filed for a divorce from Miley in 2019, citing ‘irreconcilable differences.’ A source close to the singer admitted that she was really hurt but decided to move on. In 2020, Miley and Liam’s divorce was finalised.

During her appearance on the Howard Stern show, Miley spoke about her relationship with Liam and revealed that they had been together since the age of 16, and he is an integral part of her life. It was the burning down of their home that made her marry Liam, as after losing all her precious belongings, she didn’t want to lose him. She stated that if it wasn’t for losing their home in the Malibu fires, they likely never would have gotten married. Speaking about the same, she said:
“I just clung to what I had left of that house, which was me and him. And I really do and did love him very, very, very much and still do, always will.”

Talking about her split, Miley revealed there were many conflicts between them that were getting out of hand. During the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Miley revealed that getting a divorce in the public eye was traumatising. Revealing the reason behind it, she said:
“What really sucked about it wasn't the fact that me and someone that I loved realized that we don't love each other the way that we used to anymore. That's okay. I can accept that. I can't accept the villainizing and just all those stories."
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth reached a divorce settlement quickly because of a prenuptial agreement. The couple had a prenuptial that allowed both parties to retain their personal earnings. Both Miley and Liam had agreed that neither party should get any spousal support after the marriage.
Though they had several real estate holdings and other properties, the duo agreed to divide their property, with Cyrus retaining custody of their pets. Since the couple had no children together, the divorce was relatively smooth.
