Vivek Oberoi started his acting journey on a positive note as one of the heartthrob of the early 2000s. However, over the years, more than Vivek Oberoi's work, it is his controversial remarks and infamous fight with Salman Khan that made it to the headlines. In 2009, Vivek Oberoi commented that the industry has more plastic than the company that makes Tupperware boxes.
In a television show, Tere Mere Beech Mein, hosted by Farah Khan, Vivek made a sensational remark: "Our industry has more plastic than the company that makes Tupperware boxes." This led many to speculate if he was talking about his then-ex-girlfriend. Now, in an interview with India TV, Vivek Oberoi talked about the mean comment and acknowledged that he was 'immature' back then.

Recalling the comment, Vivek Oberoi smiled and shared that the ones who are made up of plastic know who they are. He also added that he is now older and more mature. However, Vivek Oberoi also emphasised on the fact that it is up to a person whether they want to be plastic or not. He said:
"That’s not something to say out loud. They know who they are, and you know it, too. The way I made this remark back then, it’s been a while. Now, I’m older and more mature. It’s up to an individual whether or not they want to be plastic. Some people become plastic because they fear being judged for their real selves. Others lack the strength to be real, or think that pretending is the only way to survive. But when you realize all this is a waste of time, you understand that being real is the ultimate satisfaction."
On the same Farah Khan's show, Vivek talked about his press conference in early 2000, where he levied some serious allegations on Salman Khan. Recalling the moment, Vivek confessed that his inner voice told him that it might not be right and that he should directly talk to him, but there were many giving unrequired advice. He said:
"My inner voice told me to not do this and to go have a conversation man-to-man. But when you have too many people advising you, you suppress your own thoughts."
Vivek Oberoi has been through a lot over the years, thanks to his infamous public fight with Salman Khan over Aishwarya Rai. While the actor himself accepted that it was a rushed act on his part, Vivek faced a lot of hate from the industry people, especially Salman Khan, who made it a point not to forgive him. For the unversed, in the early 2000s, Aishwarya Rai broke up with Salman Khan and started dating Vivek Oberoi.

Years later, Vivek Oberoi publicly apologised to Salman Khan during his performance at an award show, but the superstar never paid any heed to it.
