Mohanlal's Daughter, Vismaya Congratulates Father On Winning Dadasaheb Phalke Award, 'So Proud..'

Mohanlal is one of the most celebrated actors in Indian cinema, especially in the Malayalam film industry. In the past four decades, Mohanlal has given some iconic films like Drishyam, Bharatham, Manichithrathazhu, Kireedam, Devasuram and more. Recently, Mohanlal grabbed attention by winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Amid the win, the actor's daughter penned a heartfelt message to congratulate her father.

Recently, Mohanlal’s daughter, Vismaya took to her Instagram handle to give a tribute to the Malayalam actor. Vismaya shared a collage of the iconic characters that Mohanlal has played till now and penned a heartfelt message along with it. She congratulated Mohanlal and appreciated him as an actor and a human. Her note can be read as:

"Congratulations Acha. We’re all so so proud of you for the incredible artist you are and for the incredible human you are."

Mohanlal expresses gratitude on winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award

For the unversed, on September 20, 2025, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting shared on their X (formerly Twitter) handle that Mohanlal will be receiving the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to cinema at 71st National Film Awards, which will be held on September 23, 2025. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also congratulated the Drishyam actor. After this, Mohanlal expressed his gratitude for winning the award. He had penned:

"Truly humbled to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. This honour is not mine alone, it belongs to every person who has walked alongside me on this journey. To my family, audience, colleagues, friends, and well wishers, your love, faith, and encouragement have been my greatest strength and have shaped who I am today. I carry this recognition with deep gratitude and a full heart."

More about Mohanlal

Mohanlal Viswanathan was born on May 21, 1960, in Kerala, India. He started his acting journey in 1978, with the Malayalam film, Thiranottam. Over the years, he gave hit films like Kannappa, Thudarum, L2: Empuraan, Bro Daddy, Lucifer and more. In his amazing career of almost 47 years, Mohanlal has won several awards including Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and 5 National Awards. 

Mohanlal had a disappointing year in 2024, with films like Malaikottai Vaaliban and Barroz 3D, which failed to impress the audience and critics. However, he made a strong comeback in 2025, with films, L2: Empuraan and Thudarum. Apart from acting, Mohanlal is into charitable work. He established the ViswaSanthi Foundation in 2015, which aims to provide healthcare and education. In his personal life, the actor tied the knot with Suchitra in 1988, and the couple has two children.

Vismaya Mohanlal is the younger daughter of Mohanlal and Suchitra, who was born on March 27, 1991. Even though, she comes from a strong family background, Vismaya carved her own path in the creative field. She started her career by publishing the book, Grains of Stardust in 2021. Apart from this, she also worked as an assistant director in the film, Barroz. In July 2025, Vismaya announced her debut in the Malayalam film, Thudakkam.
