Vishal Jethwa is a popular actor who has entertained the audience on both small and big screens. He is well known for his role of 'Akbar' in the historical fiction series, Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap. Currently, he is grabbing the spotlight for his film, Homebound’s success. For the unversed, the film, Homebound, starring Vishal Jethwa, Ishan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, was released on September 26, 2025. Now, in an event, Vishal revealed that he was initially hesitant to go to the Cannes Festival and explained why it was so.
Vishal Jethwa appeared on the 15th edition of the multidisciplinary creative festival, IFP. For the uninitiated, the two-day festival is being held at Mumbai's Mehboob Studios from November 29, 2025, to November 30, 2025. During the event, Vishal opened up about his personal struggles with the English language. The actor shared that he took one quality from the character, 'Chandan'. He mentioned that he had a huge fear of talking as he couldn’t speak English very well. In his words:
"I took one thing from Chandan, accepting your identity. This is such a universal topic. It’s everywhere. All of us, somewhere or other, are not able to accept ourselves completely. I used to have a lot of fear before, and it was such a level of fear that I used to be afraid to talk in front of people, because I couldn't speak English very well. I would wonder, how would I present myself in front of people."

In the same event, Vishal revealed that he was initially reluctant to go to the Cannes festival for his film, Homebound. The film, Homebound, received wide acclaim when released at film festivals like Cannes and the Toronto International Film Festival. He shared that the fear of English was so high that he had decided not to attend the event initially. He was quoted as saying:
"The fear of English was of such a level that when we were going to the Cannes film festival I thought, ‘Let me not go to Cannes, and that’s okay for me’. That was because I thought my contemporaries, Ishaan, Janhvi, Neeraj sir and Karan sir, know everything, and I don’t know anything."

Further in the event, Vishal shared that he has now realised that it is not about the English language, but rather about accepting one’s own identity. The Homebound actor explained how he overcame the struggles. He then added that his film, Homebound, helped him to learn that a person must accept their own identity. He was quoted as saying:
"Later, I felt it is not about English, it is about accepting your identity. Then I felt comfortable. It is about accepting who you are and accepting the other person. Don’t look at the caste, religion, nationality, or colour of the person. Just see the human behind them. And I think I learned this from the film."

Vishal Jethwa began his acting career as a TV actor. He has appeared in TV soap operas, Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap, Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanumaan, Diya Aur Baati Hum and Peshwa Bajirao. Later, he transitioned into films. He garnered a lot of attention for his negative role in the film, Mardaani 2. The film also stars Rani Mukerji. His recent film, Homebound, earned him a lot of praise. For those unaware, Vishal played 'Chandan'.
