Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag holds many records to this day. One of the greatest batsmen of his era, Virender was also called the most destructive opener in Indian cricket. Born into a Jat family in Haryana, Virender made his debut for the Delhi cricket team in the late 90s. The cricketer represented India from 1999 to 2013 and took retirement from all forms of cricket in 2015.
Talking about his personal life, Sehwag got married to his childhood love and distant cousin, Aarti Ahlawat. After the couple’s marriage in 2004, Virender and Aarti embraced parenthood with the arrival of their sons, Aryavir and Vedant. Virender Sehwag and Aarti Ahlawat are currently leading the headlines, as there are rumours pertaining to their separation.
Amid all the speculations, let’s look back at the time when Sehwag confessed to being scared of lifts after his marriage to Aarti. During Vikram Sathaye’s show, What the Duck, Virender Sehwag spoke about his fear and revealed that he hates travelling on a flight. The cricketer also stated that earlier, he was not afraid of anything, but after his marriage and kids, he started having fears.
In the same interaction, Sehwag narrated an incident when he faced a turbulent flight. Narrating how he is even scared of taking lifts post that incident, Sehwag shared:
“Ek baar hum log Delhi se Dubai ja rahe the. 1998 ki baat hai, hamari flight 1000 feet neeche chali gayi. Kuch kisses aese ghate hain jab darr lagta hai. Tab mai jawaan tha, itna farak nahi padta tha. Samay ke saath darr badta chala gaya jab shaadi hui aur bachche hue, darr badhta gaya. Pehle mujhe ucchai se bhi darr nahi lagta tha, par ab to lift me jaane me bhi darr lagta hai. Lift jab uppar jaati hai to darr lagta hai.”
Coming back to Virender Sehwag and Aarti Ahlawat's divorce rumours, it all started when the cricketer shared pictures on Diwali, but it didn't feature his wife, Aarti and younger son, Vedant. The speculations got more mileage when Virender and Aarti stopped liking each other’s social media posts and even unfollowed one another on Instagram.
