After Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli is one of the cricketers for whom fans can go to any extent for few seconds of interaction. A similar incident happened when a fan broke the law to meet Virat Kohli in the opening match of IPL 2025. The 18-year-old fan, named Rituparno Pakhira, revealed the seconds of interaction he had with his favourite Virat, who treated him with a lot of love.
Rituparno Pakhira climbed over the fence and ran towards Virat Kohli, leaving security officials at Eden Gardens baffled. However, to dodge the security he sprinted towards Virat Kohli, who was battling for Royal Challengers. However, Rituparno doesn't regret his action as he claims being arrested for a day was worth meeting his 'God' (referring to Kohli). He said:
"I am very happy despite what happened. Virat is god to me and am happy that I could meet my god."
In an interview with News18, Virat, Rituparno revealed that when the cricketer hit fifty, he found it as a chance to meet him. After he greeted him and touched his feet, he asked his name and hugged him. Later, he quickly told him to leave as he would get caught. Sharing the incident, the fan said:
"When Virat reached his fifty, I thought this is the moment and I jumped in. After I greeted him, he asked my name and hugged me. He then told me ‘Bhai tu chala ja abhi’. He also asked security not to do anything to me."
Rituparno Pakhira is still living his dream without worrying about the ordeal he went through. He is also banned from attending any IPL match in 2025. Pakhira reached his village in Burdwan where his family had mixed emotions. His mother was upset with his actions and told him to work hard if he wanted to be a cricketer like him. However, his father and sister weren't happy with his latest act, despite always backing him. He was quoted as saying:
"I am poor and searching for a good camp (to become a better cricketer). Now that I have met my god maybe, I will start playing better."
What do you think about Virat Kohli's fans who didn't care about his own to meet his legend?
