The T20 World Cup 2024 win of the Indian cricket team has given a reason for the whole country to rejoice. However, the happy news of the win was followed by the shocking news of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja’s retirement from the T20 International format. Virat has been one of the best players in the format and made some stellar records. His fans flocked to see a glimpse of the ace cricketer as they chanted his name during Team India's victory parade in Mumbai last night.

Team India was welcomed with great pomp and joy in Delhi and later in Mumbai. The sea of fans in the Team's victory parade who came to see the team made a rare sight. After the celebrations, Virat took some time off to meet his childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma. The latter shared heartwarming pictures with Virat on his IG handle, as they met after his massive victory. Virat was seen smiling and hugging his first coach. The pictures soon went viral. Rajkumar Sharma captioned the photos, writing:

“From your first practice to your incredible success, you’ve always made me proud @virat.kohli. Keep going strong beta #viratkohli #proud #indiancricketteam #indiancricket”

Virat's sister, Bhawna Kohli Dhingra, expressed her gratitude toward him

Virat's sister, Bhawna Kohli Dhingra, soon commented on his childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma's IG post. She mentioned that the first steps are essential in such significant victories, and he was the first step for Virat in that process. Bhawna expressed her gratitude to him for grooming and guiding Virat during the initial phase of his career.

Rajkumar Sharma had earlier appreciated Virat to make way for youngsters in T20I

After India won the T20 World Cup in 2024, Virat announced his retirement from the T20I format as he collected his Player of the Match award for the final match. He mentioned that the younger generation will take the T20 format ahead for the country. Rajkumar Sharma gave an interview to Star Sports and appreciated his decision. He shared that it was the right decision to make way for the youngsters and for him to focus on other formats of the sport. He was quoted as saying:

"I appreciate his decision as he wants the youngsters to get more chances and so it is a good decision. The advantage of this decision is that he will now be able to focus more on his favourite format, that is Test cricket. He has done well in that format and I feel he will concentrate more there and bring more laurels to the country."

Virat earlier received a grand welcome in Mumbai with the team

After a delayed arrival from Barbados, the Indian team landed in Delhi to meet PM Narendra Modi. Soon, they left the city and headed for Mumbai. A big victory parade was organised for the winning team that brought the city to a standstill. Later, the team was felicitated at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, where they won the 2011 ODI World Cup. At the ceremony, Virat shared his views, particularly praising captain, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah.
