Virat Kohli is one of the most prominent cricketers of the Indian cricket team. The player is truly the epitome of what we know as a blend of hard work and talent. From showering 4s and 6s on the ground, leaving his fans surprised with his bowling prowess, taking the important catches while ensuring the team's win, to celebrating his heart out while doing cutesy antics, Virat reigns in the hearts of each Indian and beyond. However, the player is currently focused on his personal life, as he recently became a dad for the second time to his and Anushka Sharma's son, Akaay Kohli.
Talking about Virat Kohli's current professional front, the player gave the India vs England test series a miss, due to personal reasons. On the other hand, while his fans have been waiting for the player to lift the winner's trophy in IPL 2024, heartbreaking news recently surfaced online. As per a recent report by the Telegraph, Virat Kohli will not be a part of the T20 World Cup 2024. As per the report, the selectors of the Indian team are not keen to keep Virat in this format as they feel the cricketer hasn't been able to showcase his talents in the shortest formats.

A few days ago, it was confirmed by the BCCI secretary, Jay Shah that Rohit Sharma will be given the responsibility to lead, i.e., the captaincy for the T20 World Cup 2024, while the BCCI secretary hasn't commented on Kohli's part. If the report by the Telegraph is to be believed, BCCI has given the responsibility to decide Virat Kohli's stay in T20 World Cup 2024 to the chief selector, Ajit Agarkar's hands, who even talked to the cricketer and asked him to play in aggressive form in this short format of cricket at the international level.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli was out from the T20 team for a total of 14 months before he played the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, wherein he reportedly failed to showcase his talents. However, the report by the Telegraph stated that the management feels that the slow wicket of West Indies and USA will not be well-aligned with Virat's batting, which is why Ajit Agarkar will try to convince the former to give a chance to the young cricketers. As per the report, the BCCI feels that players like Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, and Shivam Dube bring more value to the team than Virat. Well, it's worth mentioning that no such report has yet been officially confirmed. The final list of the players will be in the hands of ICC by the first week of May 2024.

Another report by InsideSport stated that a BCCI official recently talked about Virat Kohli's matter in the T20 World Cup 2024. The official reportedly said that Virat will possibly play in IPL 2024, but when he is going to return is up to the cricketer and his team, RCB. The official also added that as Virat is on a break, they haven't heard from him, and his performance in IPL 2024 will play a major part in his selection for the T20 World Cup 2024. The BCCI official can be quoted as saying:
"As far as we know, he will play IPL. But when is Virat joining squad is up to him and his franchise. We haven’t heard from him as he is on a break. For sure, IPL will play a massive role in selection of all players."
